Norris News!
A weekly update from campus...
November 17, 2017
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we want to say that we are THANKFUL that you share your children with us each and every day! We are also thankful that you partner with us as a school staff to foster and challenge the young minds of our students. Take a special moment with your child to have them reflect on what they are thankful for.
We are also grateful as always for our AMAZING PTA! We enjoyed our Fun Run Incentive Awards this week - Silly Sock, Crazy Hat/Hair and Pajama Days! See pictures below.
We hope that you have a restful, enjoyable Thanksgiving break! We will see you back on Monday, November 27th!

Small World Angels
Information about our Small World Angel Program was sent home in your child’s folder and electronically from their teacher. Please note there is a Sign-up Genius for each classroom angel to avoid multiple purchases of the same item from your student’s teacher.
For donated items: Please make sure the donated item return tag is attached or included with your donated item. This helps us keep the donation process as organized as possible.
Donations are due on Monday Nov. 27th. The truck to pick up items will be here on Tuesday Nov. 28th. All items that are wanting to be donated after the truck pick up, will need to be taken directly to the small world organization.
We would like to thank the volunteers who signed up to pick up donations and organized them this past week. Your help is greatly appreciated!!
A big thank you to:
Shveta Luthra, Su Nam, Lavanya Rangubhotla, Kirti Bhatia, Kyung Lee, Rajeswari Murugesan, Veronica Rivera, Vasudha Mallegowda, Ekta Kaur, Casey Kindla, Melissa Weir, Natashia Laurant & Sasikala Subramaniam
Character Lab and Guidance:
Parents,
The week after Thanksgiving break, we will be focusing on Gratitude. Each grade will explore what they are grateful for express gratitude in various ways.
- Kindergarten: Students will reflect upon the meaning of gratitude and explore what they are grateful for. Your Kindergartener will enjoy playing the Gratitude Color Game, and creating a “Grateful Heart” to show what they are most thankful for.
- 1st and 2nd Grade: The 1st and 2nd graders will play the Gratitude Color Game and explore the many areas of life that they are thankful for. Students will get the opportunity to reflect upon what they are most thankful for and write a note to express their gratitude.
- 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade: The upper grade students will play the Gratitude Card Game in groups. Students will identify various aspects of their life that they are thankful for as well as hearing what their peers are thankful for. Students will reflect upon their gratitude and express it in a thank you card to someone who they are thankful for.
Parent Challenge: This Thanksgiving, try the Gratitude Color Game with your family. See video below for directions on how to play...
