Vision

Over the last several weeks, members of our staff have come together to determine our vision for our campus. One of the ah-ha moments that we came across as we talked about what united us together is that we are all Pirates. We have two amazing elementary schools that our students get to attend. But, when they get to us, they are no longer Parkway students or Birch students, they are truly Pine Tree Pirates. So, you will start to see this vision more and more in the coming months. Thank you to everyone that helped to support and encourage us during this process.

STAAR Parent Night

Thursday, Feb. 6th, 5pm

600 Pine Tree Parkway

Longview, TX

This event is designed for parents of students grades 3-6 that want to learn more about STAAR testing and it's implications. Please plan on joining us for a great night!!

5th Grade STAAR and SSI

Attention 5th Grade parents: 5th grade reading and math tests are a little different than what you are used to. The state of Texas says that 5th grade students must pass the reading AND math tests in 5th grade. We will take the first round of tests on April. Any student that does not pass the reading and/or math tests will be required to take the tests again in May. Any student that does not pass the reading and/or math tests in May will be required to attend summer school and the 3rd retest at the end of June. Please understand that this is not a Pine Tree ISD requirement, but one from the Texas Education Agency. If you have any questions, please contact the PTMS administration and we will be happy to help.

Importance of Grades

Just a reminder to all students and parents that students must pass all 4 core subjects for the school year to be considered for promotion to the next grade level. Any student that does not pass 1 or more core subjects will be required to attend summer school in June. If you have any questions, please contact the PTMS administration and we will be happy to help.

Cheer Meeting

Friday, Jan. 17th, 2pm

PTMS Cafeteria

All 6th grade students that are interested in trying our for cheer leading in 7th grade will need to attend this meeting. Please make sure that if your student wishes to attend the meeting they are present at school.

Campus UIL Meet

PTMS will be conducting a campus UIL meet on Wednesday, January 15th. Students will test and participate to determine UIL competition teams. Please make sure that if your student wishes to participate in the UIL meets coming up in February that they are present for this competition.

2020 Census

Pine Tree ISD is working with the City of Longview to encourage all individuals in our area to participate in the 2020 Census. Be counted! Ensuring that everyone is counted helps to secure our part in federal funds and grants for our community because funding is based on our community population. There is $675 billion per year to be spent on schools, hospitals, roads, public works and other essential programs based out of data collected from the Census.

Attendance Reminder

Attendance at school is very important. We understand that sometimes kids get sick and need to stay home. If your child can be in school, please have them here. If your child is absent, please have them seek appropriate medical attention. If your child does see the doctor, please make sure to send the note with them when they return to school. Students with too many absences may be subject to truancy prevention measure.

Absences

When a student is absent, a note regarding the absence is due when the student returns to school. We are able to accept doctor and parent notes for absences. However, we will only excuse 5 parent notes each semester. Once that limit is reached, the parent note will not suffice and the absence will be considered unexcused. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. Every minute counts!!

Late Arrival and Early Pick Up

Students are considered tardy at 8:21 AM. Students arriving after 8:20 AM will need to check in at the front office. After 3 tardies, students will be assigned After School Detention.

The school day ends at 3:50 PM. When a student is checked out prior to 3:50, they are considered to have missed instruction. At 5 early check outs, students will receive an After School Detention.

All tardies and early check outs that are accompanied by a DOCTOR'S NOTE will be considered excused.
