APRIL HUSKIE HOWL
NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Happy April!!
As we enter April, it is that time of year where we start gearing up for end of year testing. Our upcoming tests are the ISATs, and ISIP Reading and ISTATION Math.
The ISAT is given to test English Language Arts and Math for grades 3-5, and Science for the 5th grade. We anticipate starting the ISAT tests April 13th and finishing May 4th.
The ISIP Reading provides growth information in early reading, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. This assessment is given to K-3rd graders.
The Istation Math is a math test that is given to K-5th grades. The students will be tested on number sense, measurement, data analysis, geometry, computations, and algebraic thinking.
We anticipate starting the ISIP Reading and Istation Math testing May 3rd and finishing May 12th.
In an effort to help your child do their best it is a great idea to make sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, arrive at school on time, and gently encourage them to do their best. If you want to send an encouraging note to your child, please connect with your child's teacher.

ASK YOUR STUDENT...
Principal's Pack

Did You Know?
Free and Reduced Lunch Form
It's not too late to fill out and return a Free and Reduced Lunch form for this school year.
Our school needs to have 50% Free and Reduced Lunch applications in order to qualify for the Fruits and Vegetable Snack Program.
In case you don't know... fruits and vegetables are served at both morning and afternoon recesses every day. There are many students that take advantage of this and what a great way for them to get a healthy snack!
Chocolate Fundraiser
Thanks for all your hard work with the Chocolate Fundraiser this year! We raised just over $15,000, although we didn't meet our goal to pave the walking path, we will save this money and run this fundraiser again next school year to raise the remainder of the money. The track will cost roughly $30,000 to pave so we are half way there!
Thanks again for your continued support!
Fundraiser Pizza Party
Several students sold enough cases of chocolate to earn a Pizza Party! They each had pizza and were also treated to a chocolate bar. Way to go Students!
We value your feedback!
At Shadow Butte Elementary, we are about doing our best to support students, staff and families.
Let us know the things that you love and any areas that you want us to improve!
LITTLE HUSKIES PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION
The Emmett School District is opening registration for the 2023-2024 school year preschool program. The deadline to submit applications is May 31st.
Little Huskies Preschool enrollment packets can be picked up at the District Office, 119 N. Wardwell Ave., or you may email info@isd221.net. You may also download them on the District Website.
Preschool Program Director Shannon Anderson asks parents to register only if their child meets at least one of the following situations:
The student is currently on the waiting list for Head Start.
The student did not qualify for Emmett School District developmental preschool services.
The student qualifies for services under the McKinney-Vento Act (see paperwork included in the registration packet for details.)
The student is currently on the waiting list for another preschool, or the student is not enrolled elsewhere.
The student lives in the household of an immediate family member who is an employee of Emmett School District.
The following information may provide answers to questions regarding Little Huskies Preschool:
Little Huskies Preschool is free of charge.
A total of 36 students will attend the preschool four days/week. There will be morning and afternoon sessions of 18 students each.
The preschool will be held at the Butte View Complex.
Students must be potty trained to attend Little Huskies Preschool.
Students who will attend Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 session will be enrolled first.
Families will be notified of their enrollment status the week of June 5th.
You may email the program director at sanderson@isd221.net or call the Emmett School District office at 208-365-6301 if you have any questions.
The preschool will officially start classes in September 2023. An open house for parents of those children who are officially enrolled will be held in August.
If you are on the Little Huskies waiting list: Direct any questions to sanderson@isd221.net. You will be notified when there is space available for your student.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
- If there are changes on how your children will be going home at the end of the day, those changes must be called into the office at 208-365-0877 by 3:15 pm and on Wednesdays by 1:45 pm. Please plan ahead because it disrupts the process of release time when we pull students from the bus line if they are already there.
Morning Drop-Offs
Shadow Butte Elementary School wants our students to be safe at school. To ensure safety, adult supervision is provided from 8:35 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the playground, bus area and inside the school. The students are the parents’ responsibility at all other times. If you are dropping off your child before this unsupervised time, please know that we do not have staff available to watch your child. If you can make arrangements to drop off children after 8:35, that would be greatly appreciated.

Recap from March's Meeting:
Building Up-Do's
Two bathrooms will be painted with murals during Spring Break.
The PTO did not get approval for painting directly on the hallway wall. We will rethink our plans and resubmit for approval. We budgeted $1,200 for both projects.

New caps will be ordered with tassels (cost before tax is $9.99).
A letter will go home to parents asking them to pay for their student's cap for $10.
A 5th grade t-shirt competition will be held (similar to Huskie
Hustle) and the winning design will be on the 5th grade graduation t-shirts produced by Your Name on This.
Spring Fundraisers
Penny Wars raised $836.03! Flower Power online ordering for the seed & bulb fundraiser will run from March 27-April 28th.
