Thank You!

I want to send out a HUGE thank you to our families who have gone above and beyond with your generosity. We had so many donations to our "Adopt-a-Family" program that we are able to sponsor THREE families for the holiday season. This has been so wonderful for our students to see and experience, and sets a standard of "giving".

Thank you for your generosity and kindness. We truly appreciate you all!

Lunch Orders Due December 16

Mini-Christmas Program

We hope you can join us for mass and a mini-Christmas program on Wednesday, December 15th starting at 8:00am. Our students are invited to dress up in their Christmas best with reindeer ears or Santa hats, too! After mass, our students will put on a little Christmas program for all of our families.

This program will be pretty short and should be over by 9:30am! We hope to see you there!

Parking Lot Caroling - December 15

Last year, we started a new tradition at St. Patrick School. It was a time for us to gather together to sing Christmas carols, enjoy some cookies and a special visit from Santa Claus, too! This was probably my favorite Christmas activity last year. So many of us gathered, bundled up, decorated our cars with Christmas lights and other decor, brought our jingle bells and candles, and spent time together singing some of our favorite Christmas songs.

This year, the Knights of Columbus are hosting a soup dinner before caroling, so you can stop in and grab dinner for the whole family, too! This is such a fun, low key way to celebrate the Christmas season. You can decorate your car, bring your candles and jingle bells, stop by for the soup dinner - OR - just show up and sing along! I know you won't regret taking some time out of your evening for this fun filled event!

All School Skating Party - December 16

Each year, our amazing PTO pays for our students to attend the Christmas Skating Party at Winnwood Skate Center. We will load buses at 8:30am and return to school at 11:30am for our noon dismissal. We'll skate, play games, and have snacks before returning to back to school.

Students are invited to wear "Christmas Spirit Attire", jeans, athletic pants, or uniform pants. They can wear Santa hats, reindeer ears, etc.

All students should have come home with a permission slip last week, so please be sure to sign and return your child's permission slip Monday, December 13.

Advent Season at St. Patrick School

Each day, a different teacher selects a student to come to the office to tear off an Advent chain and share the reading and activity for the day over the intercom. This week, we had: Lorenzo from Kindergarten, Emiliano from 1st Grade, and Abby from 2nd grade and they did such an amazing job leading us!

Our message and activities this week were:

December 6: Today is St. Nicholaus Day! What did the students find in their shoes???

December 7: Joseph and Mary traveled long and far before Jesus was born. Draw your own Nativity scene today.

December 9: Many people in our world are grieving loved ones today. With your class, say a prayer for all those who have lost loved ones this year.

December 10: Go out of your way to be nice to someone today. Ask someone new to hang out with you at recess or to sit with you at lunch.

Cold Weather

Please remember to send your child with a coat, hat, and gloves each day. The students will go out to recess as long as it is over 25 degrees, so they will need to bundle up before heading out. If your child is in need of a coat, hat, or gloves, just let me know!

Water Bottles

Please send your child with a water bottle each day. Since we are not using the drinking fountains this year, the students need a water bottle throughout the day. They will be able to fill their bottles using the bottle filler stations.

If you're looking for a fun stocking stuffer gift, a water bottle is a great idea!

This is a great time of year to log into your Sycamore account and ensure your phone numbers and email addresses are up-to-date. In case of a weather closing, you will be notified in the following ways:

1. Text Message and Phone Call

2. Email

Updating Covid Policies

I know there has been a lot of information on the news regarding school districts around us feeling pressured to update their Covid policies, and I'm certain it has you wondering what St. Patrick is going to do. In an effort to do what's best for our school community, our Parish Administrative Team will meet soon to look at local data, gather data from parent and staff surveys, and discuss our options for a safe return to school.

Please take a minute to fill out the very brief survey below to share your thoughts with us. We appreciate your opinions and will factor them in to our decision making process. This survey will be open until Tuesday, December 14, so be sure to log on soon!

St. Patrick Early Childhood Center - Important Information

Please see the letter below that was sent out this week from Father Matthew.

Dear St. Patrick Community,

It is with great sadness and regret that I inform you we will be closing our Early Childhood Center at St. Patrick effective December 16, 2021.

There are many reasons for this decision being made at this time. Among them are the continued fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic (many still working from home and keeping their children home), the lack of competent, trained, and available personnel and the ability to adequately compensate them, and the ever-increasing competition we have with other Centers in the Northland that keep us from reaching an adequate enrollment.

I wish to thank Lilly Winkeljohn for her efforts of the last few years to make our Childhood Center a safe, engaging, and fun place for children to be.

I always want to thank you, our parents, who have supported us over the years and entrusted your young children to us.

We hope to do some restructuring in the school over the next several months to allow for a pre-kindergarten class. We will keep you informed as soon as we are able to offer openings in this class.

As the paster, in the name of the St. Patrick Parish community, I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause any of you.

Father Matthew Brumleve

Our Extended Day Program will continue to be open for those who utilize this service. There is a survey below for families who are currently registered in EDP regarding utilization of the program during Spring Break and Easter Break. Please complete this form at your earliest convenience!

We appreciate your patience with us as we make this difficult transition.
