Katheryn Rogers

4th grade AIG teacher, Mooresville Intermediate School

About me.....

I grew up in Troutman, NC but have lived in 6 other states courtesy of the Marine Corps. My husband served 21 years. We have 3 children, a 21 year old son, a 19 year old daughter and a 16 year old son. I have taught 14 years but this past year was my first as an AIG teacher.

Differentiated Instruction

What "differentiation" means to me: complex, ambiguous, flexible, intriguing, necessary.

3 examples of "differentiated instruction" related to AIG students:

1. Product choices that cater to individual strengths

2. Choice Boards for different learning styles to learn material

3. Variety of presentation of material with pictures, videos, audio, movies, and interactive activities.

Changes I have made to teach AIG students:

*Use of Depth and Complexity in structuring activities such as literature circles.

*Use of an essential question to tie curriculum over a course of time.

My favorite concept learned since beginning the AIG Add-On:

The use of learning profiles to engage students in a variety of ways.
