AMCMS Principal's Office
What's Going on in the Principal's Office?!
My Challenge to You
Take a couple minutes to watch the video and see if you know Jack. This video a great example of persistence and perseverance in the face of rejection. This video is an example of having a growth mindset.
Having been told no 199 times and after three months of convincing being able to convince a maybe into a yes was just the first step in changing the world... of pancreatic cancer anyways. Of course there are critics out there but Jack would not allow their rejection of him to stop him.
This story is the type of story that we all want to see for our kids. This story is the type of story that I also want to see for all of you. The grit and determination coming to the surface; standing up in the face of adversity; believing in your idea so much that after being told no 199 times still fighting for what he needed.
As a teacher what will you do with the next "Jack" in your classroom? Will you encourage him/her or discourage him/her? Will you help encourage him/her or tell him/her they are too young? What do you take away from this story?
As a professional are you in touch with your inner "Jack"? Are you pushing the boundaries of what is possible, testing the limits of what could be, changing your instruction from "the way we have always done it" to they way we need to do it because of the kids we have in our rooms each day?
You need to know Jack... and all that is possible with a growth mindset.
Think. Achieve. Succeed.
Jeff

AMCMS Tech Tip of the Week
XtraMath is a free service designed to help teachers and parents help their students learn basic mathematics skills. The service provides an online environment in which students complete practice activities that are recorded and shared with their teachers and parents. The lessons provided by XtraMath come in video format. Recently, XtraMath added support for ASL. This is in addition to the six other languages previously supported by XtraMath.
