Dry Creek Explorer Express
A Note From the Principal
Dear Dry Creek Explorers,
Research shows that when parents and families are involved and invested in their children’s education, student achievement goes up. Here at Dry Creek, we have several ways for parents and families to get involved!
PTCO (Parent-Teacher Community Organization)
PTCO is a great way to get involved in supporting all facets of the school and help raise money that goes directly back to your children. There are several seasonal fundraisers, restaurant nights, etc. As well as ongoing ways to raise money such as Box Tops for Education. If you would like to learn more about PTCO, you are always welcome to join a general meeting. Our next meeting is on Thursday, October 10 at 6:30 pm in the Media Center.
SAC (School Accountability Committee)
The Dry Creek School Accountability Committee is for people who want to serve as a parent/community advisor around critical school-wide decisions, such as budget, staffing, and school goal-setting. It provides you with an opportunity to learn more about district initiatives, performance plans, and vision for the future of Cherry Creek. If you would like to learn more about school-wide decisions, please join us for our first meeting this year on Thursday, October 10 at 5:30 pm in the Media Center immediately before the PTCO meeting.
PASS (Partnership for Academically Successful Students)
PASS is a parent-school partnership focused on providing a forum for all parents, including those from underrepresented groups, on having a voice in their child’s education and promote a sense of belonging and academic success. If you are interested in learning more, our next meeting is Thursday, November 14 at 5:30 pm in the Media Center.
I encourage each of you to choose an area that you would like to learn more about and attend the next meeting. I guarantee that you will learn something new about Dry Creek and get a sneak peek of the wonderful things that go into creating a great community school!

Halloween/Autumn Celebration on Thursday, October 31, at 8:15 a.m.
We have designed a plan that will honor both those who celebrate Halloween, and those who do not celebrate this holiday. Details below:
- Hours: 8:15-9:00 a.m. The costume parade will begin at 8:15. Parents are welcome to stay after drop-off to watch the parade.
- Students who do not celebrate Halloween will be provided an alternate autumn activity. If you would like your child to participate in this alternate activity, please tell your child's teacher by Friday, October 25th.
- Students who will be participating in the Halloween parade/activity may come in their costume. Please follow the following guidelines: Costumes must be comfortable enough to be worn for the whole day. Costumes must be school-appropriate for all grade levels, so must not include fake blood, fake weapons, masks, or be too scary for our youngest students. Face paint or decoration is fine as long as it follows the guidelines.
- If you have any questions, please contact the front office at 720-554-3300.
