Principal's Message - Grateful for our School Community
My heart is full after this first week of reopening. I am thankful to our staff, students and families for working together as we adjust to having everyone on campus.
Below are some reminders regarding arrival and dismissal times. I recognize there is a lot of traffic on our side streets in the morning and afternoon. We need to work together to make sure everyone is safe.
ARRIVAL - 8:00 AM -8:15 AM
Students may not be dropped off before our team comes out to the front of the school to greet cars. The morning routine is different than the afternoon pick-up time. When dropping off, please wait in the far right lane until the next staff member gives the go ahead to unload your student. If you are not waved to come forward by a staff member, do not pass the cars that are waiting in line to drive directly to the front of the school to unload your own child. This week it was problematic when several parents entered via the bus lane and cut in front of those who were patiently waiting. This also overwhelmed our staff that meets the cars. We appreciate you waiting an extra few minutes until we can get to your vehicle.
I understand that some kids need extra time to get out of the car and some parents prefer to unload their own children. In this case, you may park in the lot, unload your child, and walk them across the crosswalk at the front of the school by the flagpole. At no time, shall a student walk through our parking lot without an adult. AGAIN, PLEASE USE THE CROSSWALK.
DISMISSAL- 2:30 PM (1:00 EVERY WEDNESDAY)
The most important thing is to make sure all four of our busses are parked in front of the school before filling the second lane. Do not park along the red curbs nearest the parking lot aisles. If you are picking up your child, I encourage you to time your arrival to 2:35, so that we can get the busses loaded and headed to the middle school in a timely manner. We ask that parents stay in their car and pick-up curbside as directed.
Teachers will bring students to the cars. Students in 1st and 2nd grade along with their older siblings will be waiting near the playground area. Kindergarteners and their older siblings will be waiting near the flag pole. Finally, 3rd and 4th graders will come out by the kitchen and gym area as soon as the busses exit Some parents have attached a sign with their child's name on the passenger visor and we have found this is very helpful in getting student's to their cars quickly.
If at any time you need to change your child's pick-up plan, please call the school well before dismissal time so that we can communicate a change in plans with their teacher.
I am confident each day will be better. I wish you all a terrific Spring Break. We will welcome our students back on Monday, April 5th.

Picture Make-Up Day
April 8th will be picture make-up day. If your child was absent or you would like to get their picture retaken, please contact our school office for an order form.
As we look towards warmer days, we encourage students to bring their own labeled water bottles from home. We currently have the water fountains turned off for safety reasons, but students may refill bottles in the classroom sinks.
As a reminder, current bus routes are posted on the district website at ppesd.org. Our busses are getting full, so please reach out to our school office and we can verify if there is room on your desired route.
