Where Do I Buy SHS Gear?
German Corner
Burg Hohenzollern
I studied in Germany as an undergraduate student, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. My German not only improved tremendously, but I met some wonderful people whom I’m still friends with to this day (over 30 years later). One of my German friends took me to a wonderful place not far from Stuttgart called “Burg Hohenzollern” (Castle Hohenzollern). The Hohenzollern family was the royal family of Germany until after World War I and were the last kings and emperors of Germany/Prussia. The castle was beautiful inside and out and I found it more impressive than the castle Neuschwanstein. However, the most amazing thing for me was seeing the sarcophagus of Frederick the Great, the most famous of the Hohenzollern kings. His body had been moved from Berlin after World War II to Burg Hohenzollern to protect it from the Russians (NOTE: He was moved back to Berlin after reunification). Experiencing the castle was quite a treat. You mustn’t miss a chance to visit this magnificent historical site during your next trip to Germany. I’ve included a couple of videos here about Burg Hohenzollern. Bis nächste Woche!
