Team
You've all probably heard the sayings "You're only as strong as your weakest link" or "There is no I in team." What does being a team mean to you? I want you to really think about that. Are you here to help build your co-workers up and help them succeed, or are you in it for you? I think one thing that we all have to remember is that we are ultimately here for our students. There is no one way to teach a kid that is better than another. I trust that you are all professionals that will share ideas, lessons, failures, and successes within your team. The days of shutting our doors and doing things on our own are over. This profession is too hard to do it alone and we should be leaning on each other, cheering each other on, and picking each other up along the way. I am in no way perfect and realize sometimes I may think something is important that you may not or you may think that something is important that I may not and that is ok. What isn't ok is talking bad about a co-worker, not being a team player in meetings, or being negative to students and co-workers. I feel that we are doing a good job of working together, but we still have room for improvement. I have seen great things come out of morning collaborations and I have seen some not so great things. I feel that we should strive to get the most out of this time, to better the instruction in our classrooms that will ultimately benefit our students. In the coming weeks we will be discussing peer observations and how we will begin implementing them to benefit everyone in our building. If you feel that you have a great grasp on Fundations, or Readers Workshop and wouldn't mind some of your peers coming to watch you do your thing and then debrief with them please let me know. We have many people who are experts that could help us become the BEST school in our area!
iPads Over Christmas Break
During the last week of school before Christmas break we need to ask students to bring their chargers and iPads to school. They will be staying at school over break to be checked for any damages to the iPad, screen protector, case, or keyboard. Doing this will also allow us to keep up on updates and general maintenance of the iPads to help them last as long as possible. We will send a note home and post to social media later this week. Please feel free to mention it in your newsletters as well.
Penguin Patch Christmas Store
There were two emails sent about signing up and a reminder in your mailbox on Thursday. You all had the chance to sign up for a spot and if you didn't you were assigned a time slot. It is my expectation that you go during your chosen or assigned time and give students the chance to shop, no exceptions! I believe there is a sheet in the lounge that has your times on it. If you have any questions let me know.
Catered Christmas Luncheon
On Wednesday, December 19th there will be a catered lunch for all staff during your lunch time. Please, join us on that day for some yummy food and fellowship!
