SAFETY TIP TUESDAY- NCESD
Provided by the North Central ESD Workers Compensation Trust
Stop thinking “It won’t happen to me,” and start believing “Without proper awareness, it is likely to happen to me. “
Adhere to safe work practices:
Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at work and off-the-job.
Use good body mechanics when handling and moving supplies or equipment.
Ask for help moving heavy and/or awkward loads.
Use the right tool for the job.
Practice good housekeeping.
Focus on your work and leave personal life distractions at home. They increase your risk of having an accident by taking your mind off the task at hand.
Engage in safety trainings with an open mind; be attentive; and ask questions.
Take time to ask questions when unsure how to do a task safely.
Yield to temptations to take shortcuts.
Follow your District’s Safety Rules and be a Safety Role Model for others.
If you see something, say something! Report safety hazards & concerns immediately!
Report all accidents, injuries & close calls/near misses, to your supervisor immediately.
Speak up if you see someone taking a shortcut or doing something that’s unsafe.
Take an interest in safety and volunteer to serve on the Safety Committee.
