The family is all here!
The addition of our Kindergartners this past week means our GRE family is all here! We loved welcoming our youngest learners this week and have been very impressed with their hard work to learn our school routines. This past week continued our focus on setting building wide behavior expectations. This year, we are using a behavior matrix that helps teachers and students know exactly what is expected behaviorally in each location throughout the building. This helps to create consistency for all our students! For the next few weeks, I will highlight one section that we hope you will review with your child(ren) at home. You will find this information below! We know students have the best chance of success when there is a strong home/school relationship.
To help support this important relationship, we hope you will attend our ADULT ONLY Curriculum Night this Thursday! At curriculum night you will visit your child's teacher to learn about the important things going on in their classroom. You can also find out about afterschool and community opportunities at our "Trail Mixer" while picking up some snacks. A huge thank you to our PTO for sponsoring this exciting event! If you have multiple children at GRE, feel free to attend one classroom section during the first session and the other during the second session. Here is the schedule for Thursday:
6:00-6:30 Classroom Presentations (Last Name A-K)
6:30-7:00 Trail Mixer in Cafeteria (Learn about afterschool opportunities, Related Arts, and more!)
7:00-7:30 Classroom Presentations (Last Name L-Z)
Here's to a great week!

Important Info
2. We are committed to seeking out our military connected families and assisting those families as needed. Should an immediate family member currently be serving in the military, please complete this form.
3. New this year-Eagle Time! You may have heard about Eagle Time, one of our five special rotations. This block of time is run by Mr. Rob Collier for first-fourth grade and Mr. Austin Hughes for Kindergarten. Currently this time includes a movement activity, an engaging read aloud and a chance to choose books from our GRE Library to read in the students classroom. As we continue to move into the year this may also include character education and other fun opportunities for students!
Special Spotlight: Art with Mrs. Doran
Hello! My name is Christine Doran & I’m the art teacher at GRE! This is my 9th year at GRE and my 10th year teaching art. My husband and I live in Sunbury with our twins, Jax & Tessa, and are excited to be adding baby #3 to our family at the end of November! Students will have art every 5th day of our ABCDE rotation, make sure to ask when their art day is! They will be creating art using various mediums and techniques throughout the year. Many projects are based off of children’s literature, famous artists, and world cultures. We will also be looking at the seven elements of art and how they are incorporated into what students create! The whole school is kicking off the year with our Art to Remember project! Each student will create a piece of artwork that will be sent to the company. Art to Remember then sends us personalized order forms that will be sent home at the beginning of October with YOUR child’s art printed on it, so you can see what they created before you decide to buy. Ordering has two options through the paper form or online & will be delivered before the holidays! Be on the lookout for more information coming soon! Due to my maternity leave, GRE’s Art Day will be on Friday November 8th instead of in the spring! We are looking to bring some new artists to GRE to work with our students and looking for any connections you may have in our community! On Art Day students have the opportunity to work with both a VISUAL artist to make something and a PERFORMING artist to learn how to do something.
If you are an artist or you have any connections to a visual or performing artist who you think would be interested, PLEASE share them through this GRE Art Day- Artist Connections link!
