2021-2022 School Year - August 15, 2021

And we're off!

It was great to see our kids. It makes things so much better when our school is filled with them. We were able to get devices out to almost all of our students. If your student did not receive one, there will be an email that comes to them to notify the technology department. They can also stop by the front office and let our clerks know as well.

We were able to have class meetings and every class was able to hear about expectations, rules on tardies, truancy, and unexcused days. Please partner with us and keep us informed when your son/daughter will be missing school. *Reminder: There are 5 parent excused absences a semester.

If you are having any issues at the start of the school year or need anything do not hesitate to email me at mgasaway@madison.k12.in.us

This week students will be starting to see an increase in the rigor of content as well as many clubs, sports, and activities will be starting. Please make sure you're listening to announcements each day. Every day the announcements are emailed to your student account as well.

Have a great week!

Shout out to our Athletic Trainer - Dave Pappenheim

At Friday's football scrimmage a Salem player broke his arm late in the scrimmage. The trainers from both teams worked together as one unit and got the player as comfortable as possible. Dave also went to the hospital after the game ended and stayed with the player and his family until he was discharged. Salem sent a letter of gratitude about Dave. Great job and way to go above and beyond. Your servant leadership is apprecitated.

Mask Update and Quarantine

As of right now, masks are mandatory. When it comes to quarantine, If you are vaccinated and are a close contact you will not have to miss school. If you are unvaccinated, we will follow the same protocol as last school year. If you are considered a close contact and vaccinated you will have to show your vaccination card as proof to our nurse so that you do not have to be out of school for 10 days.

Masks, by federal law, must be worn on all busses all the time. This includes athletics and extra-curricular activities.

If you are in quarantine and do not have symptoms, the expectation will be for you to do whatever your teacher has designed for you. Every teacher will have a process for you to follow while quarantined. The key will be to have great communication with your teachers. If you are quarantined and have symptoms and cannot participate on a daily basis, please make sure you or your parents/guardians are communicating with your teachers.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out.
