February 1st - February 5th For WAVA Learning Coaches

We are here for you!

You know that your kids have something special inside them. We know it too. Washington Virtual Academies (WAVA) and K¹² ignite the minds of children like yours to bring learning and innate possibility alive. Together, we are helping Washington students in grades K-12 reach their true, personal potential.

This week, our FAST team is here to help you get everything set up. Our goal is to ensure all families are feeling confident and ready for a strong start.

This is a step by step plan for WAVA Learning Coaches

Monday - February 1st

  1. If you need help setting up your accounts, please watch the video below.
  2. You will receive a student cheat sheet by email which will include your student ID (SID), regular ID, who your Family Academic Support Liasion (F.A.S.L.) is and the student resolution matrix.
  3. Be sure to install BbC Launcher if you haven't done so already.
  4. Your F.A.S.L. will be sending you a welcome email which includes a helpful toolkit.
  5. Begin your onboarding checklist (this is in the k-mail your F.A.S.L. sent you.)
  6. Please have your student complete the course titled, "Welcome to Online Learning." This is a self paced course with a total of 5 lessons. Each lesson takes 5-10 minutes to complete. This is for K-7 students only.
  7. 8th grade students can begin ORN-010.
  8. Be sure you student is following their daily plan.

Tuesday - February 2nd

  1. Read the School Handbook.
  2. k12 will be emailing you a quick survey. Please respond to this survey as your feedback is very important to us.
  3. Be sure you student is following their daily plan.

Wednesday - February 3rd

  1. Your F.A.S.L. will begin individual welcome calls this week. Please be on the lookout for this important call and be sure to return the call if it is missed.
  2. Be sure you student is following their daily plan.

Thursday - February 4th

  1. Please check out wava.k12start.com
  2. Browse through the academic and social events to see if there are some you can start attending.
  3. Finish organizing your student's workspace.
  4. OPTIONAL - Join our WAVA Facebook Group (Search for WAVA Learning Coaches.)
  5. Be sure you student is following their daily plan.

Friday - February 5th

  1. Begin planning your daily schedule.
  2. Your materials should start to arrive anytime now. Don't worry, you can still start without them.
  3. Please be sure to complete any future Pulse Check Surveys delivered to your inbox. Your feedback is vital to improving the WAVA program.
  4. Be sure you student is following their daily plan.


You have completed your onboarding process as a learning coach and your student should have successfully finished their first week.
