Hurricane Days=Make Up Days
We will use Friday, October 19, 2018 to make-up the day missed on September 14, due to Hurricane Florence. All students and staff should report to school at their regularly scheduled time on October 19.
We will use Friday, December 21, 2018 to make-up the day missed on October 11, due to Hurricane Michael. All students and staff should report to school at their regularly scheduled time on December 21.
The education of our students is our highest priority and the district will attempt to recover all lost instructional time when possible. Designated make up days can be found on the district calendar at FortMillSchools.org. It is our district policy to use the next scheduled make-up day to recover missed time.
Per state law (S.C. Code Ann. §59-1-425), all districts must set aside three days in the annual academic calendar to be used as make up days. In the event of inclement weather, these days must be made up.
Make-up days are not impacted by the declaration of a “State of Emergency.” All districts must make up a minimum of three days before any options to forgive missed days can be used.
