November 2019 Edition
Celebrations
- Everyone: Thank you for working to continue providing quality educational experiences to our children through the technical difficulties.
- Preschool Fall Festival: Was a HUGE success! Thank you to all who volunteered and promoted the event.

Attendance: Effective Until Further Notice...
PEAs, please ensure that all sign in sheets are completed DAILY. Each Monday, please send a copy of your paper attendance from the previous week to your facilitator so the attendance can be entered into Child Plus. You have the option to send the paper attendance from your mobile phone, or you can physically bring it to the Head Start office. Thank you for your flexibility.
December's Parent Committee "Make It Take It"
Please move forward with finalizing your plans. If you need help with planning, please see your facilitator. These items need to be turned in to Gabe ASAP, by early next week so that the purchase orders can be completed in time for your event.
- Create your agenda.
- Complete a PAPER P.O. request. Each class is allotted $65.
Education: Christine, Brisa, Dr. Gomez
- ECOT Data Reviews: We are busy conducting ECOT data reviews using the 4-Step Data Protocol. If you have not reviewed your data with your assigned person, please contact them ASAP.
- ECOT Quick Looks: Paper copies of the Quick Looks are being made for you. This will allow for you to continue to collect ECOT data along the way and enter it electronically by the close of the MOY window in February.
- Lesson Plans: 4 weeks of plans have been copied and placed in your boxes. We will do our best to support you in this manner until further notice.
- Family Engagement Calendars "Homework": These will be printed and placed in your boxes for December. Parents should turn them in at the end of each month with signature/initials. In-Kind should be collected for Head Start children only.
Disabilities: Luis
- Lesson Plans: Make sure that you fill in the differentiation portion of your weekly lesson plans.
- Child Find: If you have a child who is going through what's formerly known as "Fast Track," please follow all the steps using the flow chart that has been provided.
Health, Safety & Nutrition: Bobbi, Yrazema
- Active Supervision: Strategy of the Month: Scan and Count
- Nutrition/Medical: Be aware of food allergies and Alert to Health Concerns. Write them down and post them in an accessible location that they are kept in mind.
- Important Documents: PEAs need to bring the following forms to the Head Start office that have NOT been entered into Child Plus. Please do not hold on to these documents. Bring them to the office each Monday as you receive them. Alert to Health Concerns should be sent immediately. Bobbi and Yrazema will upload them for you. (1.) nutrition assessment & health history, (2.)physical/dental forms, (3.) BMI/color blindness/hearing/vision, (4.)medical updates and/or Alert to Health Concerns
- Cold & Flu Season: Please make sure that handwashing and surface sanitizing is taking place to help prevent illnesses.
Parent Engagement: Christina, Sylvia, Emmah
- Home Visits: First semester home visits should be complete and entered into Child Plus. The deadline is November 15. If you have a few that need to be entered into Child Plus, please submit them to your facilitator ASAP.
- Parent Board: Please update.
- Winter Palooza: Please share with parents! It's a FREE Make It, Take It Family Activity on Monday, December 2 from 11:20-2:30 in Conference Room A/B.

Financial (Gabriel)
- Purchase Orders: Submit purchase orders must be completed via paper. This means it will take at least 3 weeks to process through all the departments. When putting in P.O.s, please submit at least 2 weeks in advance to allow for processing by LCPS finance. Detailed rationales must be included. Paper copies will be placed in your boxes for you to use.
ERSEA (Janeth)
- Attendance: Please take attendance on paper. Be sure to turn in your attendance each Monday so that it can be entered into Child Plus.
Employee Records & Absences (Angelica)
- Sub Finder: The phone number to call in an absence is 575.524.SICK (7425).
- Absences: Must be reported to your building administrator and Dr. Freeman. Copy Angelica so that she can arrange coverage in case a sub does not show up. Non-sick absences must have an LCPS Notice of Absence. Personal leave must be approved. Paper Notice of Absences will be placed in your boxes for you.
Policy Reminders (Dr. Freeman)
- Propping Doors: At no time is it allowable to prop a door. This policy is throughout LCPS. This is for the safety of our children. When parents knock, you may welcome them into the classroom to sign in/out and assist their children. Some classes have a kind note posted on their door inform families. For strategies for beginning and end of day routines, contact your facilitator and we would be happy to help.
- Contact Information: Dr. Freeman will be checking her email regularly. If you need to text or reach her by phone, her number is 404.499.4371.
- Remind: Instant information will also be sent via remind. Instructions on how to join are at the bottom of this newsletter.
Professional Development
- We are working to streamline the PD and provide it on an "as needed" basis. Please stay tuned for monthly PD calendars. For the month of November, please refer to the email that was sent by Dr. Artiaga.
- TEACHERS!!! Please submit your Notice of Absence as soon as you learn that you will be at a PD so that a sub can be secured for upcoming PD sessions in enough time.
