Petaluma City Schools District would like to improve its response to harassment and discrimination. We would like to begin this process by gathering student voices by hosting two student focus groups that will be facilitated by CircleUp Education.

See CAASPP Letter to Parents below which provides information on what students who take the test remotely need. Students will take the exam from the safety of their homes. The exam administrator or examiner will connect by computer with each student.

PCS PRIORITY REGISTRATION CLOSES ON FEBRUARY 26. NEW STUDENTS: ENROLL NOW FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR
Our priority registration window is now open through February 26, 2021! Please complete a Schoolmint registration application, and upload the required registration documents at your earliest opportunity.
Typically, this is "tour season" at Mary Collins School. However, due to the current pandemic, we will not be holding our usual school tours. Instead, we will be hosting virtual events for families to learn about our school. During these meetings, you'll hear from our principal, teachers, parents, and possibly even students. Nothing replaces an in-person tour where you can see learning in action, but we are confident you will get to know our school community a little better after attending a virtual info session!

FCVL TO CELEBRATE "EL DEAFO" - MARCH 2 + 3

AUTHOR STUART GIBBS COMING TO MCCV!!!
MARCH 2 - 1:00pm - Grades 4-8
Link to Online Order Form for Charlie Thorn Books
Password: MCCV
NOTE: You will see a green button "ticket" when you open the link. This is the button to order books. No ticket is actually needed, but this is the way Copperfield's has set it up for their book sales.
On Tuesday, March 2nd, our students in grades 4-8 will have the opportunity to meet and listen (via Zoom) to NY Times bestselling author, Stuart Gibbs (author of all the Spy School, FunJungle and Space Camp books) and here's an opportunity to order his newest books! He's here to launch the second book in his Charlie Thorne series, Charlie Thorne and the Lost City,
Stuart's newest series - about kids who work undercover for the CIA - and one kid in particular, Charlie Thorne, is so much fun.
The cool thing about this event is that it's happening on the day the book comes out - the book's BIRTHDAY (honest, that's what we call it!) and Patty at Copperfield's is hoping all the kids can write the words "Happy Book Birthday" on a sheet of paper, and at the count of three--when she says so!--hold them up for Stuart to see. He'll be blown away!
While he's visiting via Zoom, he'll be reading, taking questions, and talking about what it takes to write a book. It should be a great time! Please help your kids enjoy the connection with a fabulous author and - while you're at it - support your local independent bookstore!
Each of the Charlie Thorne books can be ordered here (and we're going to try to get them autographed).
Book orders can be picked up at the Petaluma Copperfield's - 140 Kentucky St., Petaluma - beginning after 12:00pm on Thursday, March 3.
Thank you Patty and Copperfield's for bringing Stuart to the kids at MCCV!

PTA DINE AND DONATE - CHIPOTLE - MARCH 2

Garden Update: Hi from SARAH KONIAK and KATE JETT
MCCV community, are you a designer, builder, large sculpture artist? If so could your garden coordinators pick your brain about a future garden project? Contact us to talk. Thank you!
Spring will be here soon enough but if you’re eager to get started in your home garden here are some ideas for right now.
*If you want to eat these veggies this summer then you can direct sow radish, peas, carrots, beets and spinach seeds right now!
*It’s last call for fruit tree pruning, before your flower buds swell and start to blossom. And it’s time to fertilize non citrus fruit trees.
*Another garden task this month is weeding. I’ve been around campus pulling some weeds and this time of year the soil is soft and the weeds are small, it’s easiest to get the whole weed and all the roots too. So satisfying.
Thanks to Shannon Paras for the photo.
Keep Collecting Those Bottle Caps! We Want To Make A Bottle Cap Mural at MCCV!

Please remember we are collecting plastic bottle caps for a future mural at MCCV. Please wash them and save them or send them into school. We will have collection containers out near the office.
