Coming Soon! The Second Annual Washington All-School Read February 28-March 22, 2019
All Washington families and staff are invited to join together to read a special book at home during a four week period starting February 28, 2019 and ending March 22, 2019. The title of our All-School Read will be unveiled next Thursday, February 28th at our kick-off assembly. The Read Across America celebration is also next week on Friday, March 1st, so, let's celebrate with a Rockin' Readin' Week here at Washington!
Here's the fun line-up:
Monday, 2/25: Hat Day
Tuesday, 2/26: Silly Socks Day
Wednesday, 2/27: Wacky Wednesday
Thursday, 2/28: Pajama Day (All school-read assembly)
Friday, 3/1: Black & White day (for all of that black and white in books!!)
Looking forward to an awesome week of reading!
Thanks to the generous donations from our school community during our annual Timberwolf Trot, the PTA was able to purchase every JK-5th grade family at Washington a copy of the selected book. Families will also receive an informational letter, trivia questions and pacing guide which lists each night’s reading. Students will have the chance to win fun prizes for turning in their trivia slips!
What will our title be? Find out February 28th!

EFW Run/Walk Early Bird Registration--now through March 2nd!
Please consider joining us for the annual EFW Run/Walk which has a new name EFW Rush for Education. This event is Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Chestnut Commons, just southwest of Hart Park.
For those of you who are new to our school, or for those who have not had the opportunity to join us for this community event in the past, here is a little background on the Education Foundation of Wauwatosa. The EFW is a non-profit organization that funds innovative teaching ideas in our schools. The EFW supports our teachers and children and offers them opportunities beyond what the school budget can provide. By supporting this annual Run/Walk, we are “opening doors” for our students. At Washington, EFW has provided funds for our Motor Lab, Coding Club and Math books.
It is our sincere hope that you will join us this year and “walk or run” for education here in Wauwatosa. Even if you are unable to participate you can support the EFW Rush for Education by signing up for the t-shirt only. The event gets larger every year, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to join neighbors and friends for an enjoyable time. Refreshments, prizes, and trophies are just part of the fun.
Online early bird registration is open and runs through March 2. Participation is $25 per person for the timed 5K and $12 for the One Mile Fun Run and Walk. Please use this link to register: Registration
