Principal Message
We had a great first (short) week at GRE. Our goal this week was to make students excited and energized about returning to school. As you may have heard, we celebrated our first week of school with a whole school connection assembly! We hope that they came home and were able to tell you something positive about school. We always love to hear those positive stories and comments!
Our staff and teachers spent significant time this week building their classroom and school community. We make connections and build relationships. This is our primary focus for the first few weeks of school, as well as throughout the year.
Overall, it is our goal for students to be excited about school and the experience they have at GRE. We want them to feel safe and comfortable, but that doesn’t mean that everything will be perfect. We will continue to encourage students, support them, and provide growth opportunities academically and socially. Thank you for your ongoing collaboration to establish a kind, empathetic, and supportive school community.
Sincerely,
Pete Kurty, Ed. D
Principal

Do you want to be a volunteer?
SECURE VOLUNTEER BADGE - Dublin City Schools takes the safety of our students and staff seriously and requires a background check for all volunteers interacting with students. The process is free and easy and takes only a few minutes to complete. This is required for any parents or caregivers wishing to volunteer with students.
Don't miss anything:
You’ll receive a lot of communication from Dublin City Schools Staff. We know it can be overwhelming, especially if you have multiple children, and in multiple buildings.
For consistency and convenience at GRE, we use the Bloomz app for teachers to primarily communicate with families. That is the most direct and convenient method that allows you to receive notifications on your phone. Teachers will let you know how to sign up for your child’s specific classroom. Teacher communication will have pictures and blurbs about classroom instruction. It is to give you a glimpse into your child’s instruction so you can engage in conversation with your child about school. We do not use it to show pictures of each person’s child, nor do we track the number of times each child’s picture is shared. The teacher will also communicate classroom events, reminders, and important information that are most pertinent to you.
The school newsletter is emailed every Friday. This will have whole school information that is applicable to most or all families. It can be fairly lengthy. The information is not repeated too often, so reading it each week is important. The newsletters are archived on our website if you need to refer back to it.
The PTO sends a newsletter every Monday. This is PTO information, events, and reminders. It is applicable to most, if not all families. The PTO newsletter typically does NOT have overlap of information from the school newsletter, unless it is extremely important for families to know.
DCS district communication is through a few different methods. They send a monthly newsletter, in addition to social media.
So, yes, it is a lot of information. If you need to prioritize, please make sure that you sign up for Bloomz and read the information from the classroom teacher. Then, be sure to read the school and PTO newsletters or at least skim the for items that are applicable to you. We are responsible for communicating information in a timely and efficient manner. Families are responsible for reading the information. We do get a lot of phone calls from families that say they missed information that was in the school and/or PTO newsletters.
Thanks for engaging in our communication to help you stay informed and engaged in your child’s learning.
GRE Parent/Guardian Information Night - Aug. 29
Parent/Guardian Information Night was formerly known as curriculum night. This event is for parent/guardians only, as we do not have the space to include the students. During this event, you will meet the teacher and get all the important information from your child's classroom teacher. We hope that you'll be able to connect with other families in your child's class, learn about how to help at home, and get an understanding of the instruction and routines of the classroom.
This event is for parents/guardians. Students should remain at home. We do not have the space for children to attend. Thanks for understanding.

Birthday Treats
Dublin City Schools implements a wellness policy to reduce student allergen exposure and promote healthy eating. As a result, we no do not share birthday food treats with other students during school. However, we do have great options to celebrate your child’s birthday. The library has a birthday book program which allows your child to choose a book to place in the GRE library. Reach out to our media specialist (gould_angela@dublinschools.net). You can also donate an indoor recess game in your child’s classroom. Another option is to bring in non-food trinkets for your child’s classmates. For those that know about our tiger trunk school store, you can also purchase birthday coupons for the class to spend. However, the tiger trunk will not begin until a little later in the fall.
Changing How a Student Goes Home
If alternate transportation is needed on any given day, please send a note with your child to be given to their teacher and the office. The best method is to send an email to the office at gres_attendance@dublinschools.net. You can also find this information on the school website. If no note is received, the child will go home as they normally do. Be sure to discuss any changes with your child prior to school that day.
