Wetmore Elementary School

September 15

Hello families!!

Reading logs did started last week. Wetmore has a goal to read a MILLION minutes this year, so we are having to tally up our class total...please fill out your log and put the total minutes for the week! This will help out tremendously!

We started checking out books in the library! We go every Wednesday. The kids will keep their books for a week. Please send them back every WEDNESDAY! If they don't have their books, they cannot check out. They will also be getting a library number. They need to learn this so they can do self checkout! Please help them practice this number.

Grandparents Day was a hit...I love when they come and spend time with us! I always, always enjoy spending time chatting with them and meeting them!

Thursday the 22nd I have to take a half day off from school. I have to go to a meeting at Central Office. I am on a leadership team at Wetmore that requires me to go to these once a month. My sub this week is a retired Wetmore teacher, Mrs. Gallegos. She taught kinder and 1st grade at Wetmore and the children just adore her. Unfortunately I will be gone Friday too. My son goes to school in Comal ISD and they have Fair Day on Friday. It is a big weekend full of auctions, livestock shows, the Fair, parade, etc. Loads of fun...I HAVE to be a mom on Fair Day and enjoy this time with my family. Our sub on Friday will be Mrs. Humphry. She is equally as wonderful and great with the kiddos. She is a Wetmore parent and subs constantly in our classrooms! She is a certified teacher too!

Bike Rodeo is quickly approaching, Sept. 27th. Bike Rodeo starts at 8 am, and kinder goes at 8 am. Please drop off your child's bike (training wheels are allowed) when you drop them off in the morning and you can take it with you after you watch your child go or you can pick it up after school. They will use the "track" that is painted on the back parking lot. So, if you want to practice outside of school hours, you can! The kids only do it, if they want to do it!

Please check out our newsletters and my class website! Lots, lots, and lots of information on all our class happenings in those two links!

Repeat information... have had some questions about homework. Kindergarten the first 6 weeks of school puts a generic letter in the binder about things you can work on at home. For now, you need to work on those things. Starting the first week of October, you will receive nightly assignments that will need to be turned in to me every Friday in their Wetmore Folder. I ask that you place it in their to make it easier on me to get everything out of their binder. I have to do reading log, HW, get the Wetmore Thursday Folder, check for any notes, etc. AND manage 20 kinders! haha!
