WHAT TO BE A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER?
Our district has recently launched a campaign to recruit substitute teachers. Our subs receive training, work flexible hours and earn bi-weekly pay and incentives based on the number of jobs they pick up. If you have an interest in supporting our schools and shaping bright futures, visit wcpss.net/subs to learn more.”

Hello WYWLA Family,
The PTSA Newsletter committee would love to know if you've started any new hobbies this past year.
Has the extra time at home because of the pandemic given you the opportunity to finally complete a project? Have you become a new plant mom? Or learned a new instrument? Or have you taken up drawing or painting? Finally finished the entire Harry Potter series? Perfected your baking skills? Ran a virtual race? Started a vegetable garden?

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH
Dr. Brackett, of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, wrote a book entitled, “Permission to Feel,” which describes how to become an emotional scientist. It begins with why being an emotional scientist is important. Here is an excerpt from the text:
Feelings are a form of information. They’re like news reports from inside our psyches, sending messages about what’s going on inside the unique person that is each of us in response to whatever internal or external events we’re experiencing. We need to access that information and then figure out what it’s telling us. That way we can make the most informed decisions.
That’s it, in a nutshell, straight from the expert’s pen. Dr. Brackett’s understanding of emotion science is built around the follow premise: Recognize, Understand, Label, Express, Regulate (RULER). If this is interesting to you, I am happy to provide more information. Send me an email at Esulzbach@wcpss.net with questions or comments!
