The 2019 Great Kindness Challenge is here!
Dear Brookside Families,
We are excited to announce that we are participating in The 2019 Great Kindness Challenge where we will join thousands of schools across the country to create a culture of kindness. Your child is part of a powerful and positive bullying prevention initiative that will lead to more kindness, unity, and respect at school and beyond. For more information on The Great Kindness Challenge, please visit: www.greatkindnesschallenge.org.
Please see below for our spirit days next week and follow @CounselingBES for updates of what our students are doing all week long to participate in the Great Kindness Challenge!

WEAR RED DAY!
Brookside School will be participating in their 2nd National Wear Red Day annual event involving students and staff! This day is supported by the American Heart Association and will be celebrated on February 1, 2019.
On National Wear Red Day, we would like students to wear something red to show their support. Wear Red Day is dedicated to increasing awareness about heart disease.
In addition to wearing red on February 1st, students may voluntarily contribute $1 towards this cause. If your child would like, have them gather some spare change and bring $1. Please place in an envelope and have your child give it to the school nurse between January 21st - February 1st. Last year, the Brookside School Community raised $670.
Students and staff are educated about cardiovascular health based on their developmental level and small activities are planned throughout this time. All children will receive a bracelet on February 1st. The school is looking forward to this event.
As always, thank you for your support!
