Champions!
Welcome back from a much needed spring break! Hopefully each of you were able to rest and rejuvenate in preparation for the remaining 11 weeks of school. Over the spring break, the Lincoln High School boys basketball team earned the title: State 4A Champions! Many in the high school sports world had counted Lincoln out due to several losses during the regular season, but as I watched the boys play, I saw a poised, resilient group of young men who seemed to be accustomed to set backs and obstacles. They never lost their cool and in my mind, were quite a bit more equipped and prepared for a game of this magnitude. That group of young men is a microcosm of all of the students we serve. Our students come to school having faced unimaginable challenges, but yet they continue to be resilient individuals due to the commitment and hard work of principals and staff members who do not give up. For the next 11 weeks, please encourage your students and staff members to play until the buzzer sounds. Work hard and stay focused.
Together, we are all champions for our students, schools and communities. I believe that we have everything that we need to win; in fact we are already victorious. I believe that each of our schools will meet standard with an increase in distinctions. I urge you to believe with me.

Momentous Institute Tour Follow Up Training
For those of us who were able to tour the Momentous Institute, it was definitely worth the time and effort in the rain. Every decision made at Momentous is very intentional and in most cases research based. From textured walls, to hallway displays, to stability balls for seating, we left with a renewed understanding that we must support our teachers through targeted training so that they can better provide for our students' social emotional needs. Our 7 feeder principals have been invited to take part in a free training that Momentous is piloting on June 7 from 1:00-4:00. They will use our feedback to perfect the training before offering it on a broader scale. Please sign up to attend at the link below.

Principal's Meeting on Wednesday
STAAR Challenge
Each principal should have received the information regarding the STAAR Challenge for the Intensive Support Network. As a reminder, please send your challenge letters to Caroline Hawkins by the close of business on March 24, 2016. Rally your students and staff this week as we strive for excellence on next week's first round of STAAR testing. Check out the Carter /Kimball Challenge from a few years ago.
Leadership Focus and Updates
Make sure that your testing plans and procedures are in place for the first round of STAAR next week. Ensure that you have enough trained personnel to administer tests; especially if students need small group testing environments. Make arrangements for lunches and ensure proper signage throughout your building. We will discuss your testing plans as I visit schools this week.
Budget meetings begin Monday for the Lincoln Feeder and continue on Tuesday for the Madison team. Please come to the new HCM building prepared with all necessary documentation.
In reviewing the spot observation report for last week, we are behind on entering our spots, please make sure that you finalize all spots that are in progress asap. Create a plan or calendar to ensure that you are remaining on track.
