Class Promise

Our class promises to grow our brains by doing our best and choosing the harder task. We also promise to be a leader by being respectful, responsible, honest, and kind.

Its Been a Great Week!

This week we finished "The Happy Lion." We also started "Miss Maggie" in our Junior Great Books series. We continued working on citing text evidence to support our answers in reading. In math, we started on unit 2 focusing on extension addition and subtraction facts, What's my rule, and number stories. We are working on adding what the character sees, feels, and hears to our narratives. We started researching our state's history.

Things to Look Forward to Next Week!

We will finish our Junior Great Book story still focusing on supporting our thinking with text evidence. We are also focusing on the theme of friendship. In math, we will continue with chapter 2 focusing on comparison number stories, partial-sums algorithms, and addition with three or more addends. We will start looking deeper into our state's history by focusing on Carmel's history.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The Rocket Run was a BLAST! Thank you so much for all of your generosity. The kids had a great time! It was great seeing them enjoying the event and each other!

Please sign your child's token report and send it back to school Monday.

Mrs. Towle, our librarian, would like for students to bring a device to library this Monday and next Monday. This is only if your student has one they are allowed to bring to school.

We will be going on a Carmel Walking Tour on September 23. I sent home the permission slips on Wednesday this week. If you need another one, please let me know. We will be leaving on Friday around 8:40 and returning around 10:50. We will eat lunch at school that day.

Math tests were passed back this week. I grade math tests the day we take them. I then pass them out gradually and go over each question missed with students. If you see a problem that has the correct answer and it looks like it has been marked wrong, it is because they have fixed it with me.

October 5 is National Walk to School Day. Smoky Row has held the title the last two years for the most kids that have walked to school. Help us obtain the trophy yet again this year. Plan to walk to school October 5! A light breakfast will be provided. :)

The Carmel Education Foundation presents the Ghost and Goblins 5K and 2K on October 22. For more information log on to

If your child has any exciting news to share - winner of a competition, getting a certain color belt in Tae-Kwon-Do, etc., please send me a picture. I would love to feature them in my newsletter. :)
