English Language Arts
We will continue to work on identifying letters of the alphabet and their sounds, along with continuing our work with rhyming, using complete sentences when we speak, and drawing pictures to express thoughts and ideas. Please see below for the developmental stages of writing (not hand-writing, but representing what we say).
Math
This month in math we will be identifying numerals 1-10, writing numerals 1-10, and counting with meaning to 10 and beyond. We will also be making and comparing small groups of objects.
I.B. Unit of Inquiry
We will begin a new unit of inquiry mid-January on Communities. Here are the lines of inquiry we will explore:
1. There are many types of communities.
2. Each community has helpers or members.
3. Members have roles and responsibilities.
The Developmental Stages of Writing
We often ask the children to draw something in response to a question. (What did you do this weekend? Who was in the story?, etc.) Here's what you may see as the children begin to "write". Click on the image to enlarge.
Please remember that your child should come to school daily with the following:
1. charged Ipad and charger (if sent home)
2. folder
3. sneakers
4. backpack with bus tag/ ID tag (please remember to transfer the tag if your child gets a new backpack)
5. water bottle
