The Broad Street Counselor
Updates on School Counseling at Broad Street Elementary
May 2021
This school year was definitely an unforgettable one. I am so proud of our MASD community and how we continued to persevere, even when circumstances became challenging.
Summer is almost here, and with all of the turmoil experienced this year I am sure that students and families are looking forward to a relaxing break.
May is typically the month in our school counseling program where we focus on summer safety and transition to the next grade level. Please take some time to talk to your students about how to stay safe while having fun this summer and that it is normal to feel a mixture of emotions when something comes to an end or changes. I know we often see this mix of feelings around the last week of school when students are excited for summer, yet sad to leave their classmates and teachers behind.
As always, let me know if you need any support. Feel free to send me an email to set up a time to connect via phone or Zoom!

From our Elementary School Social Worker, Megan Garrison:
“MASD will be offering Free Meals for students until the end of the 2020-2021 school year. If your student/family is in need of additional resources such as food, clothing, or hygiene products, please contact your student’s school counselor or the elementary school social worker for additional support. Your child’s school counselor will be in touch with more details following your response.”
