Gospel Reflection
Jesus teaches the disciples about prayer. Luke 11:1-13
This week’s gospel highlights the importance of prayer. The Apostles ask Jesus to teach them to pray. Jesus teaches them a simple version of the most famous Christian prayer, the Our Father, or the Lord's Prayer. Jesus reassures the Apostles that God answers prayers.
Prayer is communicating with God. Spending time in prayer helps us to remember God’s presence in our lives and keeps us open to seeing it.

School Mass: Thursday 4th August 9.15am
We have our School Mass to celebrate the beginning of the Term next Thursday. A warm welcome to whanau and members of the parish community to join us for this Mass.
We ask for students to bring an item of non perishable grocery for the offertory. These groceries will be given to the Hamilton Combined Christian Foodbank to distribute to people in the wider community in need.

Saints Anne and Joachim,
Most Holy St’s Anne and Joachim, come close to us and guide our hand and our hearts in the way of virtue.
Help us to parent our children and grandchildren with a gentle heart as you did Amen
As a school, we will celebrate in thanks, for our Grandparents and those who are near and dear to us, at the end of this Term - Thursday 22nd September .
So please mark this date: Grandparents Day : 22nd September .

First Communion and Confirmation programme - Final call
Enrollment forms are available from the parish office or email andrea@cathedral.cdh.nz
The date of the ceremony is Sunday 20 November at the 10.30am Mass.
The programme begins this week. First parent meeting is on this Sunday 31st July, 7:15pm in the Cathedral.

Board of Trustee Elections
Nominations for the Board of Trustee elections close 3 August at 12noon.
Please get your nomination forms into the school office. If you did not receive a form via email or post, then contact the school office urgently on 07-856 7515
If there are more than 6 nominations, an election will be held.

School Board elections happen every three years and give parents a say in the future of our school. As we have a number of our present elected Board members standing down, some of them no longer have children at Marian, we do need parents to put their names forward. If you are passionate about the education and future of our children then why not stand for our Board. Board members play an important role in shaping the education experience and achievements of our students. Boards work best when they reflect the diversity of their communities.
The present Board encourages parents with a range of experiences, different skill sets and interests to be involved and represent our community on the Board. It is a big responsibility and a true privilege.

Absentees
If your child is going to be absent from school please notify the school office before 9am each day. You can leave a message on the answer phone 856 7515 or send us a message on the School App.
With winter hitting hard we are seeing more children absent from school. Unfortunately we are having large numbers of parents not contacting the school office for absentees. If we do not have a reason for your child being absent then they are recorded as Truant to the Ministry of Education.
Second Hand Uniform Shop
Open 2.00pm - 2.45pm Friday afternoons in the Whare.
If you have any unwanted articles at home, please drop them into the school office. All donations of uniform are much appreciated.
