Student teachers!
Students now lead calendar time and they get so excited that the class calls them by their "teacher name"!
"Good morning Mr. Marchetti!" (it's simply their last names with a Mr. or Miss, but it's the little things in life that get us excited!
Mystery Reader
This Week
This week, we've loved diving into our unit all about Artic Animals. We learned this week about the polar bear and next week we'll be focusing on penguins and walruses!
In Writing, your child chose to write either a non-fiction or fiction book about Polar Bears. They should have brought it home today, if not, they're working on some finishing details! I'm so proud of how far they have come in their writing and I especially love to see the confidence and independence blossom!
In Reading, we mostly worked with non-fiction and fiction books around our Artic Unit. We also worked on comprehension, retelling a story and focused on what to do when we are reading the story ourselves. We can't forget to point to every word, focus on the beginning sounds, and cover it up, slowly chopping it up if needed!
In Math, we worked on comparing numbers, subtraction, and addition. We're working on deciphering between what to use in a story problem. Will we need to add or take away? Next week, we'll start talking money!
