Hi Team 8!

We did it! The first grading term has come to an end! Student's grades will be finalized this week and report cards will be sent home. Please be on the lookout in your email for a link to Sign up for Student led conferences (SLCs). SLCs will be October 21, 22 and 23rd from 3:30-7:45. Please sign up for a time with your students CAT teacher! Thank you for all you do. We couldn't do it without you!

Math

Students have finished Topics A and B on solving Equations. The second nine weeks will include topics like solving Inequalities, Graphing, Slope of a line, Angles, Angle relationships and parallel lines! As we move throughout the year we will continue to work on our fluency with solving multi-step linear equations. Please encourage your student to practice through the additional help links.

Hello All!


This week we are ending our 2nd unit which is really exciting!

We finished up our final assessments and their revisions! So far your kids did very well. They were using higher level thinking by evaluating real supreme court cases and acting as a supreme court justice. They wrote a MEAL paragraph and then we went over what the ACTUAL supreme curt justices decided! It was pretty cool to see our similarities and differences! We will be starting our next unit, Unit 3, on Monday! This new unit is all about our First Presidents and the Leaders and Challenges of a New Nation!


Great Job to our Band, Choir, and Orchestra students who performed this week! You did amazing!

Foundations Language Arts

Hello Everyone!


October is finally here! Students have taken October's ISIP assessment. This measures each student's reading current readability level, focusing on skills such as word analysis, text fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and overall reading.


We are just wrapping up Unit-1/Lesson-2, which focuses on Theme and summarizing. Students will be taking a quiz over the lesson at the end of the week. We reviewed the lesson with an exciting KAHOOT review game.


Students are required to write in their agendas each day when they enter the classroom prior to completing their bell-work. It is a participation grade each week, and parents can see what students are doing in class each day.


HOMEWORK: Students receive a homework reading log at the beginning of each week, and it is due every Friday. They are required to read at home for at least 15-minutes each night (Monday-Thursday), and complete the log/questions. Students must remember to turn in on Friday. The reading log was placed in Schoology this week so that students could access it electronically as well if they would prefer to type it.

Please Don't Be Absent!


Encouraging regular school attendance is one of the most powerful ways you can prepare your child for success—both in school and in life. When you make school attendance a priority, you help your child get better grades, develop healthy life habits, avoid dangerous behavior and have a better chance of graduating from high school.


When students are absent for fewer days, their grades and reading skills often improve—even among those students who are struggling in school. Students who attend school regularly also feel more connected to their community, develop important social skills and friendships, and are significantly more likely to graduate from high school, setting them up for a strong future.


But when kids are absent for an average of just two days of school per month—even when the absences are excused– it can have a negative impact.As a parent, you can prepare your child for a lifetime of success by making regular school attendance a priority.
