Mammograms
A Mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast normally done on women. Mammograms are used to check for abnormalities in the breast that could be tumors. When reviewing a mammogram doctors look for small tiny dots, lumps, and any other disease related to the breast. Women over the age of 40 should get screened once every year.
Pap Smears
A pap smear is a test that can detect problems with a girl's cervix. Pap smears can detect infections and abnormal cells that can grow into cancer. The doctor looks for inconsistently on the cervix and will test the cells on the brush. Women over the of 20 should get a pap smears once every three years.
Testicular Exam
The testicular exam can be done my the male to try can find lumps and unusual bumps. This can help find testicular cancer at early stages. A male should do this once every month.
Prostate Exam
Prostate exams are done on males in between the ages of 40 and 70 to test for prostate cancer. In order to decide if you need a prostate exam you should talk to your doctor about different aspects including age, weight, and your PSA levels.
