Keeping you connected with Silver City ES!
Students and families,
We are quickly wrapping up the 2019-20 school year. Although we NEVER could have anticipated how this year would end up, I just wanted to say that I have been completely impressed with how our students, parents, and staff have embraced this difficult time and made the absolute most of it. Our Silver City family has looked this quarantine in the eye and said, "We are not giving up and we are in this together!" This is so evidenced by the emails I am receiving from parents and teachers, as well as the stories I am hearing about our Google Meets and one-on-one conferencing adventures. We have focused on strengthening our relationships with one another and we have continued learning through it all.
Parents, we know that none of this would have been possible without your dedication, support, encouragement and love. THANK YOU for rising to the occasion so beautifully and helping us figure this out together.
Teachers, thank you for putting in the extra hours to figure out what works best for your classes and your students and being willing to go the extra mile to continue the learning in this new dynamic.
Students, we are unbelievably proud of the progress you have continued to make during quarter 4 and the ways in which you have continued to demonstrate The Comet Way at home. You have been Respectful, Responsible, and Shown Integrity over these past 7 weeks and we are so proud of you.
In the next week, we will share information with you about returning materials to school and picking up your supplies from school. Please be on the lookout for all that information next week as we make plans for this occur on May 26 and 27.
Let's finish strong, Comets!
Final Report Cards
Parent Portal will be closed the week of May 18-22 while Q4 grades are input and finalized. EOY electronic report cards will be available through Parent Portal on May 29.
Make sure you have an active Parent Portal account prior to the end of the year so you can access your child's final report card.
If you have forgotten your Parent Portal username and/or password, click here to find out what to do.
If you have any questions, please contact Susan Lawing (primary contact) or Meredith Warren (back-up contact) by June 4 to find out more. After June 4, contact Cindy Little at 678-947-0863, ext 312253 for assistance.
A PARENT PORTAL ACCOUNT WILL ALSO BE CRITICAL IN 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR AS WE WILL BE MOVING STRICTLY TO THIS ONLINE SYSTEM FOR VERIFYING CHECK-OUT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS. CHECK-OUT CARDS WILL NO LONGER BE USED.
Kindergarten Registration Info
We are still registering students using a virtual process and will use that for rising 2020-21 Kindergarten students. You can begin the registration process even without all of the required forms, but your child(ren) cannot start the first day of school until all of the forms are turned in. Any forms needed from a doctor can be turned in at a later day through the upload process. After registering, you will receive an email indicating any forms that are missing and the upload link is also provided.
