EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
Central Office Communications: Week of August 9, 2020
OUR CURRENT REALITY
Hello EHT School Community,
We are still in the process of surveying parents regarding the start of school this year In order for us to accurately create schedules and bus routes, we need to know some specific information for each child in our school district. This includes the need for all parents and guardians to fill our survey and select an option for learning, your choice for transportation, and the need for technology. With close to 7400 students, 10 schools, and over 63 square miles of bus routes, I really have to stress the importance of the completion of the survey with genuine and timely feedback. At this moment, we are approximately 2000 students shy of our total enrollment and need a response for every child. To assist you with filling out the survey, please use the following resources to guide you: 1. district framework (linked) for the reopening of schools and 2. the Q and A repository (linked). The survey can be found here SURVEY . Responses will serve as each student's commitment and will allow us to begin scheduling appropriately. Please tell your friends and family about the importance of participating in this survey.
We are aware that our Road Back to School Plan does not meet the needs and desires of everyone, however we are sure that it meets all criteria as set forth by the NJDOE, the Atlantic County Department of Health and the Atlantic County Executive Superintendent. Our priority is to reopen schools with the health, safety, and welfare of our staff and students at the forefront of this all. If you should have any questions, please email us at ehtsd@eht.k12.nj.us. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this time.
We are #EHTStrong! We are #EHTReady!

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Summer Back to School Skills Builder Using MobyMax
Did you know that studies have proven to show that children can lose up to 50% of what they learned in the previous school year during summer vacation? To assist with the summer slide we are offering parents and students the opportunity to work with a tool that your children are familiar with called MobyMax. Over the next two weeks, from August 9th through August 23rd, students will be able to login into MobyMax and complete assignments on their current level. Please note that they will use the login for their school during the 19-20 school year. Additionally, their login Username and Password is their Student ID for both entries.
Subjects that are covered in MobyMax include Math, Math Facts, Reading, Foundational Skills, Science and Social Studies. To maximize results, we suggest a minimum of 1 hour per day over the next 2 weeks to reduce the summer slide and support building on skills as we prepare to go back to school. The best part is that with your support, you can focus on the skills that you want your child to focus on. For more information please see the attached flyers or visit the district website at www.eht.k12.nj.us or your school’s website.
Lastly, MobyMax works on a variety of devices such as a personal computer, laptop, chromebook, iPad or cell phone. Simply gain access to the internet and a browser, and login with your school code or from your 19-20 school’s webpage.
Have questions or need help? Please contact our RtI Facilitator, Ms. Lily Moss at mossl@eht.k12.nj.us

Other virtual field trips taken in previous weeks included, historical Philadelphia, PA and the Constitution Center, Glaciers and Volcanoes, Caverns and Canyons and the Great Barrier Reef. Where will ASPIRE participants go in week 6?
CLIMATE & CULTURE
We have worked for the culture of our schools to include school improvement efforts to increase student achievement for ALL students. Through professional development opportunities, time and resources we are building an effective learning culture where students are provided a safe learning environment, where teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress, providing ALL students the opportunity to learn at high levels, and having individualized interventions through the RTI process to assist ALL students with learning. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics.

ATHLETICS/FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS/ACTIVITIES
RETURN TO PLAY INFORMATION
Student-athletes and band members participating in Phase 1 summer session can find guidelines and information on the website at http://ehthsathletics.weebly.com
You can also directly access information on the Return to Play Document (linked)
MESSAGE TO OUR STUDENT ATHLETES AND FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS
Phase 1 of the Delayed Fall Season has started with all fall athletes and band members required to take part in a pre-workout health screening and abide by safety protocols for workout sessions. This includes the wearing of masks when appropriate, social distancing, health checks, 90 minute practices, no sharing of equipment, and no more than two days of practice per week. Violation of these guidelines could have a program face disqualification as all students need to go through Phase 1 prior to any official team practices. Students are grouped into ‘pods’ for health, safety and contact tracing. I cannot stress the importance of these protocols as they are not only in place for workouts at school but also for outside of the practice fields. Actions off the field are as important as actions on the field.
The NJSIAA recognizes the fluidity of this virus and any needed changes would be made prior to August 28th. As a reminder, for the health safety, and welfare of our students, all students should be supervised by a board approved staff member during any and all workouts and practices. August 28th will be the last day of summer workouts and a two week hiatus begins where all communications with athletes have to be virtual. No one is permitted on campus for in-person practices from August 29th to September 13th. Official pre- season practices can begin on September 14th. Games will begin on or near October 1st. There will be no long trips, out of state trips, or state championships. All student-athletes and coaches must adhere to this model in order to participate.
July 27 - Football summer workouts begin
Aug 4 - All other sports and marching band summer workouts begin.
Aug 28- All summer workouts end; No activity up to and including Sept. 13th
Sept 14- Official Pre-season practice begin for all sports and marching band
Sept 28 - Tennis games can begin
Oct 2 - Football games can begin
Oct 1 - All other sports games can begin
