Thanksgiving Thoughts
Our district will be closed from November 25 - November 29 for our Thanksgiving Break. On Thursday, we will celebrate Thanksgiving Day, the traditional and uniquely American holiday when we pause from our normal routines and take the time to count and show our gratitude for our blessings.
In the bustle of travel, visiting relatives, preparing meals, and planning the television schedule, not to mention scouting the Black Friday sales, it’s easy to lose sight of the real reason for this day. Let’s not do that. Let us find the time to reflect upon the many blessings God has brought to each of us.
Remember too that the holidays are often hard for those who have suffered personal tragedy or the loss of a loved one, and have a special prayer in your heart and an open hand for those in need.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! -- Psalm 95:2

Strategic Planning
A very wise person once told me that the secret to changing the world was the create a clear picture of what you want the world to be, and then be sure that every decision you make and every action you take are the ones that move you closer to that picture.
At the beginning of this school year, we talked about the need to “swim in the same direction” if we were going to be successful. All great organizations are built around a common goal and a clear vision.
At our Board meeting last night, the Board of Trustees approved the first step in a very important journey.: the quest to clearly state the vision of this district. What experiences and opportunities do we want a student of Perryton ISD to have? What are the skills and knowledge that we expect our graduates to possess? Most importantly, what are the core values of our community, and how do we want to reflect those in our schools?
This is a conversation that we will have over the next few months. It will begin with surveys and small groups talking about these questions. Eventually, it will move to community meetings where we define and shape the future direction of Perryton ISD.
This only works if our community -- our parents, our students, our staff, our business leaders, and YOU -- joins together to answer these questions.
Between now and January, our staff will be working to start putting this together. We will be creating a web page to keep you informed about the progress we’re making, and we’ll be reaching out to our staff and community to be part of this process. We hope you’ll choose to join us.

Employee of the Week
Employee of the Week: Jimmy Lewis from TTAEC
Mr. Lewis was our campus representative for the Fundamental 5 conference. He came back and shared the knowledge that he gained and gave us ideas on how it fits best with our campus. Most importantly, Mr. Lewis teaches his class in such a way that all students are able to grasp the simple and complex concepts. He has built his own games to better engage the students and builds incredible rapport with each one. We are blessed to have him on our campus!
