Greenville Drive Reading All-Stars Program

The Greenville Drive Reading All-Stars program is a reading incentive program aimed at promoting reading and academic success among youth across the Upstate. Any 2nd-5th grade student is eligible to participate.

To complete the program, students must read 5 books during the program, which runs February 13th-March 17th. Students who complete the program will be honored at Fluor Field before the 7pm Drive game on Monday, April 24th.

More information on this program will be sent home during the week of February 6th.

Students can count the same books for both the Reading All-Stars program and the 2nd Quarter Reading Challenge.

Third Quarter Reading Challenge

Your child's goal: Read as many books as possible between now and March 22nd. Reading logs must be turned in to Ms. Knight no later than Tuesday, March 28th. We’ll have prizes for those who read the most in each grade level, and every participant will receive recognition!

All students have received reading logs. You can also print out a reading log here. (If your child reads more than 50 books, you can continue recording books on this blank reading log.) List books as you complete them. Remember that books can be counted only once, and only books finished should be recorded.

Second Quarter Reading Challenge Results

Many thanks to all who participated in our 2nd Quarter Reading Challenge. Over 260 reading logs were turned in, and students and staff read over 7,800 books!

All participants will be recognized on a poster outside of the library, and grade level winners will receive a special prize. In addition, three names will be drawn at random to receive a reward.

Our top readers in each grade level are:

Kindergarten - Matilynn Johnson

1st grade - Abram DeJong

2nd grade - Oscar DeJong

3rd grade - Peyton Curesky

4th grade - Lex Phillips

5th grade - Janna Bahdini

Swamp Rabbits Scholars Book Club

This reading program has concluded. Ms. Knight will send home ticket vouchers and other information as soon as she receives it from the Swamp Rabbits.

By taking part in the Scholars Book Club Program, “Hat Trick Challenge,” your young reading stars had the opportunity to earn one (1) FREE ticket to attend the Sunday, February 19th home game. The hockey game will inspire school spirit and will be sure to get students excited about reading!

Students are also encouraged to take part in a book drive on the night of the game. The donated books will be given to the “Friends of the Library” and sold at their annual book sale. All proceeds from the book drive will benefit the Greenville County Library System.

If they bring three (3) or more children’s books, new or gently used to donate, they will receive one (1) BOGO (Buy One, Get One ticket voucher to a future Swamp Rabbits game). There will also be a FREE post game skate that Sunday evening with the players.
