On Tuesday, I will introduce Guided Math. It will take about 2 weeks to get students into the routine before we can use this time effectively. This is how our Guided Math time will work once routines have been established.
We will have a whole-group lesson on the skill of the week in addition to small group learning. Learning stations are designed around that skill.
- Math Journals - Independent learning time for practicing the skill / concept of the week.
- Technology - Independent learning time on iPads for practicing math facts and skill of the week.
- Math with Teacher - Small group time with me!
- Math Games - Partner work. Students will be working in pairs to complete skill building games and activities.
Students will rotate between learning stations.
We will start by introducing Math Journals and Math Games this week.
This system allows the students to build on math skills with multiple learning styles. It is important that each student understand that this time is to be used wisely.

Tip* Encourage your child to read books on our lesson topics. This is helpful when learning to read as well as to learn more about what we are doing in class! I LOVE to see and hear students come to class excited about the topic we are covering! National Geographic Kids books are great for this purpose! Nonfiction books are a great way to encourage a love for learning!
