Art - Jennifer Ashmore, Art Teacher
In the art room we are finishing artwork in the style of Canadian artist, Ted Harrison. We have begun learning about a famous female American artist named Georgia O'keeffe. Georgia O'keeffe is best known for her beautifully painted enlarged flowers. She also painted New York skyscrapers, New Mexico landscapes, and other elements from nature, like animal skulls, trees, and seashells. Georgia's work helped pioneer a revolutionary art movement and showed the world that talent and perseverance, no matter your gender or background, will always prevail.

Let’s make some music! In MUSIC class, Challenger musicians practice and develop rhythmic skills, melodic skills and listening skills in age-appropriate, FUN ways. We make and experience music together using singing voices, instruments, movement, children’s books, and games. And we READ music, using visual representation and music notation. Every time students come to class, we: Sing, Move, Play, Listen (like musicians do), and Create!
In October, we continue to celebrate Fall! Your student may come home singing songs or speaking rhymes about pumpkins. Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade continue to sing, move and play lots of handheld percussion instruments. 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders are continuing working on "Bar Basics" techniques and playing a steady beat vs. a rhythm on the resonator bars, xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels.
PE - Bridget Hodge, PE Teacher
Ride Challengers are concluding lessons on throwing, tossing, catching, and rolling by applying their new skills into various dynamic settings. We hope your family will join our school in celebrating Walk to School Day on October 11th . This event is a great way to kick off a new healthy habit together!
We are enthusiastically counting down until our upcoming skate unit (4th - 2nd grade). Permission slips must be completed in order to reserve skates for students. https://tinyurl.com/RideSkates and https://tinyurl.com/SkateFee.
