Natick Preschool Donation Drive
Starting this week and continuing until Friday, December 9th, Natick Preschool will be holding a Donation Drive for the Natick Service Council. In the past, our wonderful preschool community has collected food, hats and mittens for the Service Council. At this time, they are in need of the following items:
Diapers (sizes 4,5 and 6 only)
Baby wipes
Body wash
Body lotion
Toothpaste
Mouthwash (with no alcohol)
Items can be dropped off in the lobby of the school or sent in your child’s backpack. We often talk to our students about the value of caring for each other and our community...this is the perfect opportunity to show them this value in action.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give! We appreciate you!

- At school, we talk about play planning as a means of developing executive function skills. Play planning not only practices a Think then Do mindset, but also builds in important literacy skills such as letter sounds, the concept of written word represents spoken word and more. Here is an example of how a play theme can be extended to real life: In order to help build background knowledge about the things people do in their sheds, garages and yards, read books about gardening and building/fixing things. If you have small projects around the house, consider having your child help you complete these tasks. While they may not be ready to help with tools like saws, there are lots of things they can do to help keep your home in good repair. Below are just a couple of ideas!
1. Oil the hinges. Squeaky doors can be annoying. Take that annoyance out with the help of your kids. Arm them with oil or WD40, show them how it’s done, and let them finish the job! Make sure to show them the result and tell them that they did an amazing job of taking care of the squeaking!
2. Tighten screws. Screws are used everywhere in the house and they can get loose. This can lead to loose towel racks, bars, handles ect. Solving this issue is as simple as turning a screwdriver to the right, which means that it’s something your child can do. Teach the phrase, “”righty-tighty, lefty-loosey“.
- With cold season upon us, you can also practice covering coughs and sneezes to contain germs. Mrs. Jill Ricardo shows us how to practice with little ones. Click the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SONm9k_zgJ3Hc-aa7xTVF9Bcs_0jDkil/view?usp=share_link
- Many preschoolers have not yet developed the fine motor finger muscles to tie shoe laces, but many older preschoolers express interest. Here is a shoe tying video to reference if your child expresses interest.
- December 2nd is National Special Education Day.
- Reminder for Parents Who Want to Volunteer--CORI Checks
Reminder If you want to volunteer in schools, you must have a CORI check conducted and you must go into the building with identification (drivers license or passport) to do this. Click here for description of what a CORI check is and does. Without a CORI check, you cannot volunteer in the school. Here is the form to fill out for a CORI. Preschool volunteer opportunities include being a Mystery Reader for the class, presenting a family tradition and supporting special projects.
