Enjoy The Ride!
Inside Dismissal
We have systems in place where teachers are stationed in the carpool lanes to call inside for your students, other teachers actually load the students and the remaining teachers stay inside for student supervision. With parents walking up to the north/south doors to pick up, it compromises safety of our students and keeps dismissal from being efficient. To speed up the process, we ask that you pull all the way up to and beyond where the students are waiting. Please remember that this is a NO CELL PHONE AREA as we need your full attention for safety of our students and staff in the parking lots.
We also ask that you show proper ID when picking up your child- so please have your car rider sign or a picture of it on your phone ready to show staff. Please continue to hold up your sign until your student is loaded so it can be read by the adult loading your student. If you need a new car rider sign, please contact the office and we will get one to you.
UPDATE FROM NPS HEALTH SERVICES: Flu Information
We are seeing very high rates of flu across our nation and state. Currently, we are also seeing an increase in the number of reported and confirmed cases of flu in the Norman area as well.
Please read this information on how to decrease the chances that you or your family members will get the flu. Please remember, if you believe your child might have the flu or if your child has a fever--keep them home.
Flu usually has a sudden onset and will almost always have a fever. Common symptoms include body aches, cough, sore throat, headache and feeling tired. Talk to your doctor early if you are worried about your child’s symptoms. Treatment is most effective if started in the first 24 to 48 hours. Encourage rest, fluids and keep them as comfortable as possible. Your doctor may recommend a prescription antiviral and/or a fever-reducing medicine to help with the aches, pains and chills that come with the flu.
Please be specific when you call in your child’s absence to the school. Please tell us if you think your child has the flu, has been diagnosed by a doctor with the flu, or has another illness such as a stomach bug. (Flu does not usually have stomach symptoms). You must keep your child home until they have not had any fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications such as Advil, Tylenol, Motrin or any other similar medication. Aspirin should not be given to children.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) highly recommends that everyone 6 months of age or older get a flu shot. The flu shot works to protect you from getting the flu and may lessen the severity of the symptoms and the length of the illness if you get the flu. Also frequent and thorough hand washing is one of the most effect ways to prevent all illness. Thank you for your help and cooperation in keeping our kids as safe and healthy as possible.
