Principal as Co-Learner in Culturally Responsive Math
Our Inquiry
We began by asking ourselves how we can build on the provincial focus on achieving excellence in math and wondered what it might look like if we looked at math instruction through the lens of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy with a view to addressing issues of social justice through the teaching of math.
In our roles as Student Achievement Officers and former school principals, we saw principals as key players in engaging with our inquiry across their schools. This resulted in our inquiry question:
How can engaging principals as co-learners in the area of cultural responsiveness in Math have a positive impact on ALL students' confidence and achievement as math learners?
