March of Dimes - March for Babies

Lubbock-Cooper ISD is committed to the health of our students, which begins long before they walk the halls of our campuses. Healthy babies grow into healthy Pirates, and we are pleased to partner with March of Dimes to ensure care and support for babies and mothers in our community.

Please watch the story of the Cheathams, members of our own Pirate family who have been deeply impacted by the advancements supported by March of Dimes! Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing on social media stories from around our district of mothers, babies, and families whose lives would not be the same without March of Dimes - these are our fellow Pirates, and we can't imagine what our community would look like had they not had access to medical help in their time of need!

In the spirit of giving and friendly competition, we are asking each campus to raise money for this important cause! Our district goal is $10,000, and each campus is competing for one of two top spots: most money earned, and highest percentage participation. Principals of winning campuses will be "arrested" by our own Lubbock-Cooper ISD Police Department and "sentenced" to a day of treats!

How can you help? Donate on our campus team page, and be sure to SHARE, SHARE, SHARE this information! Donors will receive an emailed, printable "Little Pirate" which can be decorated and displayed in the front of your home! Send us a photo of your family pictured with your "Little Pirate," and help us spread the word!

Kindergarten Registration

Ahoy, little Pirates!

Kindergarten registration time is here! Because our campuses are currently closed, we are asking parents of next year's LCISD kindergarten students to complete an online pre-enrollment form. This pre-enrollment form will provide us with necessary student information along with guardian contact information. We will reach out within the next few weeks and let parents know how to submit any required documentation or additional enrollment forms.

Complete a pre-enrollment form for your future Pirate kindergartener here.

Pre-K Round-Up Event Rescheduled!

Lubbock-Cooper ISD's Pre-k Roundup event originally scheduled for April has been postponed due to the COVID-19 public health crisis. We now plan to host Pre-k Roundup on June 23 and June 24 (dates subject to change pending COVID-19 public health crisis).

Remember, children must be at least four years of age by September 1, 2020, and must qualify for LCISD pre-k based on the following eligibility criteria:

  • Child is unable to speak or understand English;
  • Child is eligible for the national free or reduced-price lunch program (educationally disadvantaged);
  • Child is homeless;
  • Child has a parent/guardian on active duty in the United States armed forces, Texas state military forces, or the reserves;
  • Child is or was in foster care; and/or
  • Child has a parent who is/was a police officer, firefighter, or emergency medical responder seriously injured or killed in the line of duty who received the Star of Texas Award.

If you plan to enroll your child in LCISD pre-k for the 2020-21 school year, please click here and complete the pre-enrollment online form! This will allow us to contact you with important information and reminders!

Principals' Reading Challenge

While our Pirates are learning at home, Mrs. Baucum and I want to extend a reading challenge! Complete 15 or more of the squares on your board and send a photo or other electronic submission to my email address (ccross@lcisd.net). As soon as we have 150 students complete the challenge, we'll both be seeing green!
