Library News
During the month of February, the library will once again begin sending automated email notices regarding overdue library books. Each notice will include the title of any book that is currently overdue as well as the book's replacement price. There is never a fine or fee of any type if a book is found and returned to the library. If a library book does need to be replaced, please contact Mrs. Puller at kpuller@conroeisd.net to find out about replacement options.
The library is still in need of parent volunteers to check out books, return books to the shelf, and help with special projects. The morning volunteer shift is from 8:20-10:50. This shift works with 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades. The afternoon volunteer shift is from 1:20-3:00. This shift works with Kindergarten and 3rd grade. Volunteering in the library is a great way to help kids, meet other parents, and get connected to our school. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the CISD volunteer application at https://apps.conroeisd.net/volunteer/ and email Mrs. Puller at kpuller@conroeisd.net.
Music News
Our second grade students have been working hard to prepare a very special music program “The Day the Crayons Quit”. The second grade program will be Thursday, March 26th at 6pm. Second grade students need to arrive in the music room at 5:40pm that evening. The costume to be worn is a solid, Red/Green/Blue/Yellow/Black/White/Orange shirt and jeans. Please contact Mrs. Rodriguez for any questions. See you on Thursday, March 26th at 6pm. As always thank you for your support of the Hailey Elementary Music program.
Fourth Grade Music: The recorder unit will begin soon. If you would like to purchase a recorder from Mrs. Rodriguez please send $5 check or cash with your fourth grader.
Fourth Grade Choir News: There will be no choir on Thursday 2/13 or Tuesday 2/18.
It is a great time to remind everyone:
- If your child is running a temperature 100° or greater, or has obvious symptoms, he or she needs to remain out of school.
- Even if a student’s temperature can be lowered to below 100° with a fever-reducing medication such as Ibuprofen or Tylenol, the student still needs to stay home.
- A student may return to school when fever-free for 24 hours without a fever-reducing medication.
- Encourage your child to use good handwashing techniques and wash often.
- Our teachers are working hard to disinfect common areas in their classrooms when a student is diagnosed with the flu, so a big thanks to them.
Notifying the school nurse is extremely helpful especially for observing patterns or symptoms in a classroom, so please let Nurse Carol Skorupski know if your child tests positive for the flu. As a student recovers from the flu and returns to school, the nurse will be aware and better able to observe the student for symptoms which may not be resolved.
