Support the playground fund
Want to support the playground fund? Aqua Tots Wheaton will donate to the Madison playground fund for ever family who signs up to swim with them. Please bring the flyer, coming home soon, when you register. Aqua Tots is located at 1245 East Butterfield Rd. Contact them at 630-348-6550.

Madison Playground Sponsorship Opportunities
Sponsorship opportunities for the new Madison Playground are available at the $500, $1000, $2500 and $5000 level. This is a great opportunity for local businesses or neighborhoods to donate and gain recognition for their support of this great effort. Information and sponsorship levels are available online. Reach out to your networks and help rally support for the new Madison playground! Contact Mary Henderson or Beth Tatro with any questions or leads on possible sponsorships.
Volunteer at the Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be at Madison Mon., Oct. 15 through Thurs., Oct. 18, 2018. The Fair is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
Our Book Fair theme for fall 2018 is Enchanted Forest, a whimsical place full of irresistible books kids can’t wait to read so their imaginations can grow! We’d like your help to make this Book Fair that “once upon a time” experience for our students and inspire “happily ever after” results.
Volunteers are also need to help with the book fair. Please email Mrs. Graham, firstname.lastname@example.org, with the days and times you can help. Thank you.
Friday, Oct. 12, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.: Book fair set up.
Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 15 & 16, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Help students write “wish lists.”
Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 17 & 18, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.: Working the cash register and helping students choose books.
Tuesday & Thursday evening, 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. Working cash register
Friday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Take down Fair.

Library Learning Center Director
Volunteer for vision and hearing screening
Vision and hearing screening will take place at the school on September 28. The school nurse, Jillian Grant, is looking for volunteers to help her that day. We are still in need of one volunteer for morning shift and two volunteers for afternoon shift. She will also need one volunteer for rescreening day on October 12.
Morning Shift: 9:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Afternoon Shift: 1:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.

Attend the Conservation Committee Meeting
The first Conservation Committee meeting will be September 24 during the lunch hour for 4th and 5th grade students. This year we will be working on a project to recycle old Crayola markers amongst other conservation minded projects. More information to come.

Order the Madison yearbook
Orders can now be placed for the 2018-2019 Madison Paw Prints. A yearbook costs $17 and will be delivered to the student before the end of the school year. For those new to the school, Madison Elementary School yearbooks cannot be ordered on ParentVue or Synergy as with the middle school and high school yearbooks. Our yearbook is 52 full color pages that include many of the wonderful activities and events that happen during the school year.

2018 - 2019 Reflections Participants Wanted
Calling all artists, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, photographers and writers! The PTA Reflections Program is now underway. This year’s theme is “Heroes Around Me”. Use your imagination to creatively express this theme through artwork, writing, dance, film, photography and/or music.

Join the Girl Scouts and PTA for all school service event
Madison Beautification Day is Sun., Oct. 7, from 9 a.m.-noon. Get outside and enjoy the fall weather and some time together. You do not need to stay for the entire event, any help is appreciated.
- We will be working alongside the Madison PTA to make our school a more beautiful place.
- We’ll be weeding, trimming shrubs, mulching and planting as well as removing trash and doing a general clean-up of the school grounds.
- Bring gloves and garden tools if you have them. Label your tools. We really need additional wheel barrows, leaf blowers and hedge trimmers.
We need lots of helpers -- parents, kids, extended family members. Everyone is welcome. When you arrive, check in at the front entrance of the school and you will be assigned an area in which to work. Please let us know if you a have plants or bulbs to donate. Volunteer in the LLC
Our Library Learning Center (LLC) is in need of your support. We are seeking volunteers in both the morning (9:15 a.m.-12 p.m.) and afternoon (1 - 3:30 p.m.) sessions. Mrs. Graham, our LLC Director, couldn't have the program she has today without your help. Your time is appreciated no matter how often you can volunteer, be it every week, every other week, or once a month. Volunteering in the library is a special way parents and grandparents can share in their child's school day. Some of the LLC volunteering activities include shelving, checking materials in and out, preparing displays and bulletin boards, and assisting students and faculty. Please save General Mills box tops and turn them in to the LLC. Madison can earn ten cents for every General Mills box top received. Thank you to Cecilia Horjes for heading up this effort. We purchased many copies of award books for the library. Thank you for your support.
