Wonders Reading Program

Norfolk Public Schools uses a reading curriculum titled Wonders in 3rd through 5th grades. Your child will learn how to become a confident and fluent reader in the 21st Century.

My favorite part of the program is the School to Home Connection. The quick video below gives you additional information about this wonderful program! Students can access all the reading stories, games, and vocabulary words at home. Login information is found in your child's planner.

Kylie is an outstanding student! She shows perseverance by giving 100% on all academic tasks. Responsible, reliable, and polite are other character traits to describe Kylie!

Kylie is an active listener and has a passion for learning! Thank you, Kylie, for your hard work!

IXL - Awesome Math Program

I am pleased to tell you that we will be using a website called IXL in our classroom this year. IXL is a comprehensive math review site with an unlimited number of practice questions in hundreds of skills—all of which are aligned to state standards. One of the best things about IXL is that your child can access it from home, so you have a chance to see your child's progress!

Please encourage the practice of this program at home! Even a couple of minutes each night can help your fourth grader practice math! Your child's username and password for IXL are located in their planner.

Spelling Homework

In your child's planner you will find their weekly spelling "menu" board. The students need to refer to this document to complete their daily spelling homework. Each student completes 4 spelling activities a week. Their spelling test is on Friday. Please see the graphic below for additional ways to help your child succeed in spelling!
