2nd Grade Newsletter

November 13, 2015 --- A Friday, the 13th Edition!!

What We Are Learning....

Reading - We learned a lot about features of nonfiction texts this week such as diagrams, labels, a glossary, and an index. We will finish this up next week, and begin previewing our close reading lessons on bees. We will also talk a bit about turkeys!!

Writing - We will be finishing up our "All About" books next week! The students are doing a great job writing their own nonfiction texts and including the features we have learned about in reading.

Word Work/Spelling - The spelling words are: many, then, them, these, so, some, her, would, make, like. The words will be tested on Nov. 20th.

Grammar- We will be learning about adjectives and adverbs, and contractions.

Math - We will be focusing on practicing our math strategies with two digit addition and subtraction, and then begin working with one and two step word problems.

Social Studies - We continued our learning about the Creek and Cherokee Indians in our rotations today. We compared and contrasted the two Native American groups and added to our interactive notebooks.
