Important information regarding STAAR assessments:
Pop In for Grades - Thursday, October
This Thursday, October, 8th, we will have our first Report Card night from 5:00-6:30. Students and parents will report to the students' 2nd period class to receive their report card. As with Meet the Teachers, it is not a time to conference with parents. If they wish to discuss their child's grades, please have them schedule a conference.
Have You Joined PTA?
If you have not joined our PTA, please consider doing so. A membership is only $6.00 which is money well spent.
Looking for Homework Activities that are Fun as Well as Purposeful?
Have you considered using games as learning activities? While word searches, in their typical format, can help students remember specific vocabulary, they could be more beneficial is students have to determine the word they are searching for from the clues provided.
For example, the clue for one word might be something like the following:
Texas mission famous for the battle fought there by Texians such as Davy Crocket and Jim Bowie and the Mexican army led by Santa Anna ____________.
Students would search for the "Alamo."
Remember, all assignments should be purposeful.

Olweus Anti-Bullying Program
Just a reminder: Wednesdays have been designated for the Olweus Anti-Bullying lessons. Our Olweus committee will be sending you information throughout the year. These lessons are especially important given the discipline incidences the administrative team has had to address this six weeks. Let's work together to change the attitudes of our students to that of tolerance and civility. Your efforts in this endeavor are truly appreciated.
Fall Benchmark Testing
Benchmark testing is just around the corner. You will be provided with the tests and the answer documents will be printed for you. These will be set up as actual STAAR assessments where student rosters will be created and rooms assigned.
