SafeUT Frontline App Launched

SafeUT Frontline is an app that provides two-way communication with a licensed mental health professional. Through the app, you can chat with or call a SafeUT counselor. SafeUT Frontline has been developed for use by Utah frontline workers including Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS, Healthcare personnel and their families.

The SafeUT Frontline app is available at no cost for both Apple and Android devices.

Simply search “SafeUT Frontline” in your smartphone’s app store and download the app. You will be required to accept terms and permissions—something all apps ask you to do. You will also create a passcode once the app is downloaded.

Need Fingerprinting?

We have been doing fingerprints at our Highland building location. Fingerprints are by appointment only due to COVID restrictions. Applicants are required to schedule an appointment online only. The link is below.

Are You Expiring in 2021?

The NREMT application deadline is fast approaching. If you expire in 2021 you are required to submit your CME application to NREMT by 3/31/2021.

Affiliation with an agency is not required to submit an application to the NREMT or the state.

You are required to do both an application with NREMT and the state to renew your Utah license.

EMS Personnel Peer Review Board

The purpose of the EMS Personnel Peer Review Board is to advise the department concerning discipline of emergency medical service personnel. The Peer Review Board is created under section 26-8a-105(4) of Utah Code and 426-5-3400 of administrative rule.

The EMS Personnel Peer Review Board is composed of 15 EMS professionals from a variety of licensed levels, providers, and areas of the state. Regular meetings of the Peer Review Board are held quarterly.

So how does the discipline process work?

Once a complaint or background screening finding against a licensed EMS individual is investigated, the Department shall refer the case and provide a report with all findings and recommendations to the EMS Personnel Peer Review Board. The EMS Personnel Peer Review Board makes recommendations to the Department's EMS Bureau Director. The Department's Bureau Director accepts or modifies the recommended action of the EMS Personnel Peer Review Board. The licensed EMS individual shall be notified by the Department of any action taken within 15 days of the decision.

***REMINDER: Please remember that each EMS provider has a duty to report any arrests to the bureau within 7 days.

R426-5-3200. Background Screening Clearance for EMS Licensure.

(7) “A licensed EMS individual who has been arrested, charged, or convicted shall notify the Department and all employers or affiliated entities who utilize the EMS individual's license within 7 business days. The licensed EMS individual shall also notify the Department of all entities they work for or are affiliated with.”

(8) “All licensed or designated EMS providers who are notified or become aware of a licensed EMS individual arrest, charge or conviction shall notify the Department within 7 business days.”***
