Testing Note & Envelope

Today in your child's Friday Folder you will find a note and envelope about testing encouragement. As important testing approaches, we are asking you to join with us in reminding your child how he/she is smart and amazing! We are asking that you write a note, letter, picture or memory and place it in the envelope attached to the note.

Please write your child's name on the outside of the envelope and return it to school by April 21, 2014. We will give the note to your child the first day of testing. We know they will be so excited to see your words of encouragement and support during this important time. Thanks for your help and support!

Spring Testing Dates

Spring testing is coming soon, and it is important to mark your calendars now. Please avoid scheduling appointments that require taking your child out of school on these dates, as it is important that he/she is here on time each day of testing.

Fifth Grade Track & Field Day

This week your child brought home information about the 10th Annual District-Wide Track and Field Day on May 15, 2014. Please make sure to return the permission for to school by April 21st. If you would like to volunteer to help with the track meet, please return the turquoise volunteer form as well. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Hudson.

Take Your Child to Work Day

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is on Thursday, April 24, 2014. To accommodate parents/guardians working for businesses that plan career awareness events for this day, the Park Hill School District has made a provision allowing students not be counted absent on this school day dependent on the completion of a reflective work day assignment. This assignment will be designed by your child’s classroom teacher giving your child the opportunity to reflect and share information about his/her day at the work place.

If your child is planning on attending Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day events, please complete the form attached in this week's email and return it to Ms. Domeny prior to April 24, 2014. This form will be kept on file in the office so you will not be called regarding your child’s attendance on this day.

As explained earlier, for your child not to be counted absent, he/she will need to complete a reflective work experience assignment designed by Ms. Domeny. Students who do not return this assignment by May 9, 2014 will be counted absent on April 24, 2014. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Levy Would Benefit FLiP and Safety

A question on the April 8 ballot will ask voters for authorization to increase the levy by 32 cents to fund the Future Learner Project and safety improvements. The Board has the opportunity to only take half of that amount from 2014-2016, because the district will not need the full amount right away. The Board has a history of only taking what we need and no more. Park Hill’s levy is lower than most other districts in the area, ranking 11 out of 12.

Levy Answers and Resources:
The levy page on the district website has a one-page fact sheet as well as more in-depth documents with answers to frequently asked questions and data about the levy, FLiP and safety.

If you want quick answers to your questions about the levy on the April 8 ballot, watch the video below that summarizes the levy question and the projects it would fund.
