So proud of our students!!!
As many of you know, our school lost power on Wednesday morning due to a problem with a local transformer. We are so proud of how our students handled a very different start to the day. The power returned quickly at 10:15 a.m., but by then our students were already focused on their learning and behaving as if it were a typical school day. We are so proud of the positive and respectful behavior our students show every day......but on what could have been a challenging start to our school day.....our students really showed just how great they can be!
School For Scholars
School For Scholars resumes on Monday/Tuesday of next week , February 27 and 28. And our last sessions will be on March 6 and 7.
Thank you to our PTO and volunteers for supporting this program. The students have had a great time.....and the adults seem to have enjoyed it as well!
COSI
Staff and students have been enjoying our exploration of weather through the COSI experience this week. We learned about Atmospheric pressure and wind, cloud types and their affect on the water cycle, weather forecasting and extreme weather safety. Thank you to The Center of Science and Industry, our PTO, and volunteers for helping us facilitate this engaging event. We think the adults had as much as the students did...and learned a lot too!

Illness Reminders: If you child is ill, remember to call the school absence line at 513 686-1714. It can be difficult to decide when and how long to keep an ill child home from school. The timing of the absences is often important in order to decrease the spread of disease to others.
If your child has a fever, is vomiting or has diarrhea they must stay home until they no longer have the symptom for 24 hours without the use of medication to control the symptoms.
Check our school illness guidelines at http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2309 .The school district health handbook has more information and found on the district website at http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2268 .
Lice 101 review: Lice cannot jump or fly. They are transmitted by direct head to head contact with another person with lice or sharing items placed in the hair. Children should be instructed against sharing hats, clothing or hair items with others. Children should use their own pillows and sleeping bags when spending the night with a friend. Household pets do not transmit lice. Consult your school nurse and the Sycamore Student Health Handbook for more great information about lice. Here is a link from the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding best practices with lice management https://www.aap.org/en-us/about-the-aap/aap-press-room/pages/AAP-Updates-Treatments-for-Head-Lice.aspx
