Message From the Principal
Good Evening Oakville Otter Families and Happy Friday!
It is almost Thanksgiving! A 70 degree weather day this week made that hard to believe for me! This week's SMORE will actually be for the next two weeks as we will all be enjoying the holiday break with our families.
I'd like to welcome our new Safety and Security Assistant, Ms. Llano, to the OES team. When you see her at the front of the building, be sure to say "Hello"!
Of special note this week is in regards to a communication sent directly to you from SMCPS Communications regarding Federal Impact Aids Forms.
Our schools are heavily impacted with federally-connected students – those parents/guardians who work on federal property in Maryland, live on federal property in Maryland, and/or are active duty military personnel. Because of this impact, we receive federal grant funds to operate and maintain our schools and enrich school programs. To receive these funds, the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) requires us to survey each student to determine eligibility.
SMCPS is encouraging all parents/guardians to please take the time to access and complete the Impact Aid Survey Form online, located in the Home Access Center (HAC). Once logged in, directions to access the online form can be found HERE. A video with instructions is available HERE. The form can now be accessed in Spanish by clicking on the Globe in the top right-hand corner once the form has been started. The deadline for the online submission of Impact Aid Program Survey forms is December 15, 2021.
Ms. Rapozo will be monitoring our completion of the forms. As we approach the deadline, she may be reaching out to see if you need assistance completing the forms.
The first grade level to reach 100% completion of the Impact Aid Survey will receive a sweet treat from Ms. Dietz!
I hope you find time to relax and enjoy some downtime and eat lots of great food with family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday!
"Otterly" Yours!
Ms. Dietz
