Evaluating Web Sites Lessons: The C.R.A.P. Test
As an educator, you know you've got a successful lesson when kids ask you about it in the lunchroom while waiting for buses! In January, 5th graders learned that to "evaluate" is to "examine" and we learned that the C.R.A.P. test is a great tool to use to evaluate web sites. After a lesson on Currency, Reliability, Authority, and Purpose, students worked in groups via Padlet to evaluate sites for a pretend science project. We talked about the importance of reading everything with a critical eye. Sixth graders will experience a version of this lesson in mid-February.

Students who read 6 hours "for fun" (not for a class assignment) can earn a free ticket to Six Flags Over Georgia, to be used next summer. Forms are available in the library and require a parent signature. They are due back to Mrs. Lee by Monday, February 26th. Tickets will be distributed in May.
